It costs just $54 a day to keep a family housed through CityFHEPS. It costs roughly $270 a day to shelter that same family after they've become homeless. Let’s do the right thing. Thanks @speakermenin.bsky.social for standing strong

“This was a preventable death. For years, New Yorkers have warned that horse-drawn carriages are unsafe for passengers, workers, pedestrians, parkgoers, and the horses themselves,” @chrismartenyc.bsky.social said in a statement.

Climate change is no longer a distant threat. The challenges are here, pressing against our shoreline. NYLCV Pres. Julie Tighe and @chrismartenyc.bsky.social detail the urgency of strengthening our infrastructure through projects like the North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project:

Caucus leaders Sandy Nurse, Tiffany Cabán, Alexa Avilés, and Kayla Santosuosso issue the following statement in regard to the release of Mayor Mamdani’s FY27 Executive Budget:

“We’re grateful to see the Mayor’s Executive Budget appears to maintain many of the crucial services that New Yorkers rely on every day. Among the many announcements, we appreciate the inclusion of an additional $26 million for the Office to Combat Hate, $20.5 million to implement the Street Vendor Reform Package, the baselining of $25 million for Promise NYC, and cuts to both wasteful vacancies at the Department of Corrections and bloated contracts.

For years, our members have stood determined to ensure that working New Yorkers do not bear the brunt of any budget deficit and we will continue to hold firm on this core belief. Negotiations aren’t over yet. There’s much more to be done to bolster CityFHEPS, NYCHA Vacant Unit Readiness, and other vital services. Our Caucus plans to unveil formal priorities ahead of Executive Budget hearings over this next month.” Caucus leaders Sandy Nurse, Tiffany Cabán, Alexa Avilés, and Kayla Santosuosso issue the following statement in regard to the release of Mayor Mamdani’s FY27 Executive Budget:

Fresh off the momentum of a strong finish to the '24-'25 term, which saw us pass approximately half of all introductions, and run successful budget campaigns that won billions of dollars for housing and crisis response initiatives, we're growing to meet the moment of a new era at City Hall 🔽 🔽 🔽

I'm grateful to get to work with @council.nyc.gov Speaker Menin as the Chair of the Landmarks, Public Sitings, Site Depositions, and Resiliency Committee. Representing the oldest part of our city and one that's almost entirely coastal, (1/2)

DOT start the plan! It’s been 4+ years and $500,000 spent just to develop a plan to pedestrianize the Financial District and so far we have gotten nothing!

Honored to be endorsed by @psc-cuny! Under this admin the threats to CUNY and their staff have been real. We have not compromised in our demands of making CUNY free, to fund childcare at every campus and to make sure we are protecting the adjuncts, professors and retirees that so many NYers rely on.

NYC is on track to deliver a key component of Project 2025 to our city retirees: force them to switch to Medicare Advantage. We shouldn’t be leading the way, we should be protecting our public healthcare. My op-ed on why the Council must act now to protect our retirees: www.amny.com/opinion/city...
