I've always been fundamentally anti-death penalty because: 1) Its actually more expensive than sending perpetrators to prison. 2) Death penalties literally do absolutely nothing to discourage crime.

When you go see Primetime for Robert Pattinson and he DOESN'T end up being the best performance in the movie. That honor goes to Skylar Gisondo.

"Do human characters REALLY matter in a Godzilla movie?" Well....YEAH because inevitably we're gonna be spending plenty of time with them. Monster scenes are expensive to film and you NEED human characters to weave story. So at the very least give me humans I don't mind spending time with.

Kinda a wild coincidence I made this AMV, which uses a Weezer song from Pinkerton, just when its 30th anniversary was coming up. That was NOT intentional at all. 🤣 bsky.app/profile/chri...

Listen, I'm not the biggest fan of Joker 2 either but this idea that Storrie's character was meant to be "the real Joker" that actually fights Batman has ZERO receipts. As far as I can tell Todd Phillips never stated this was supposed to be the implication.

(Spoilers for Goodbye, Lara) Two days after GL concluded and I still firmly believe the basic "skeleton" of the epilogue was fine but it REALLY needed to be its own ep and not a 5 minute wrap-up.

Got to see the original Ghost in the Shell on the big screen and much like Akira it was very worth it. Probably my favorite parts are just any time it takes time to slow down and let you soak in the suffocating yet mesmerizing New Port City. No dialogue, just pure atmosphere and visual poetry.

Zack Cregger's Resident Evil is a movie that it gives an all too realistic depiction of how a lot of us would REALISTICALLY react when placed under those intense survival horror game situations. Also calling it now, I officially crown Austin Abrams the Scream Queen of 2026!

Name a movie that fell apart in the final ten minutes: The reveal of the monster in full and the somewhat generic "sequal-baity" nature of the ending really deflated an overall neat little indie horror flick. bsky.app/profile/snow...

Name a movie that fell apart in the final ten minutes: The definition of a movie that SHOULD have ended 10 minutes before it did. Tries to be "happy and uplifting" but the sheer implications only get more low-key disturbing, gross and problematic the more you think of it. bsky.app/profile/ghos...

With Evangelion on Criterion now, I'd like to give any potential newcomers a PSA: Do NOT sweat over the Christian iconography used in the series too much. Anno and the team mostly used it because it looked mysterious and exotic. That and because Anno really likes making Ultraman references.

It's interesting how Akira gets pegged as a "cyberpunk" movie when outside of the some of the expected aesthetic and visual trappings; it has much more to do with cosmic horror fiction. Especially on a thematic and story level in the form of its antagonist Tetsuo.

Chris Heim VA @chrisheimva.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

Watched the 4K re-release of Akira last night and it was incredible seeing it on the big screen. The sound design and music score in particular really popped. Hadn't watched the movie in a long while so it was nice getting reacquainted with it and acquiring a nice fresh perspective.

I was pulling together clips for a Utena AMV I'm making and realized the endings of ep 7 and ep 29 visually parallel each other. Although they differ in ONE key aspect. Also man, Anthy was SAVAGE for pushing the orange rose into Juri's face after losing the duel. 🤣 #revolutionarygirlutena #amv

Alright, I'm gonna toss my hat in the ring and say I believe the Utena movie is a SEQUEL to the anime. As in it functions as the "episode 40" in which we see Anthy's character growth come to form as she tries to retrieve Utena from the "other world" she was sent to. (1/2) #revolutionarygirlutena

One of my thoughts coming out of the Coyote vs. Acme movie was "Man, I can't imagine how good that cancelled unreleased Batgirl movie must be!" I am kinda joking but at the same time, its still super unfair and unethical canceling the release of a film that was super close to completion.
