Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 11/09/2026That's just because I forget about it though. It's easy enough to turn off and pocket when I'm not using it. The connection to the camera is stellar, but I'd rather the camera be able to turn the mic itself on/off too rather than just the receiver 020
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Been using the dji mic 3 on the rust conf trip. It's a nice little mic and I hope all the audio comes out well. I'm definitely stress testing it a bit recording next to loud roads. The biggest issues I've had is that if I have it off but still clipped on I can easily swipe the magnet accidentally. 131

Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 20/08/2026250 is possible but could be a bit under weight depending on the person imo. I was 6'9" 250lb at my most athletic, and accounting for the height difference and body fat changes I could see holding another 30+ lbs of muscle at that weight. I think the actor is a bit under that height/weight 010

Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 11/08/2026One thing I've learned is that some situations are only resolvable by letting someone make a mistake they are committed to making, then showing up with compassion later. Not everyone has the experience (yet) to be convinced of how a situation is going to play out. 190

Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026and finally, the diff'd normals version with seemingly the correct calculations 000
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I duplicated the mesh in blender and hid it from view, then used that mesh on scene ready to grab the normals and apply them in the space the morph target occupies in the shape keyed mesh. This is the full normal value, not the diff, so it still looks a bit off 100
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I was able to programmatically modify the normals for one of the morph targets 100
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Yeah, I'm deciding how to handle (or if to handle) mouths. The mouth bag or sonic universal approach seems attractive for toonish results, and I could sculpt it in for something less "universal" 100
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Well if you're going programmatically, I believe bevy already supports it. My issue is I wanted to author it in a dcc. docs.rs/bevy/latest/...docs.rsMorphAttributes in bevy::mesh::morph - RustAttributes differences used for morph targets. 010
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I know one possible approach is baking the normals and then accessing the morph data in the shader to blend between baked normals for the positions. Blender doesn't implement the normals for shape keys, but the corresponding feature in gltf, morph targets *does* registry.khronos.org/glTF/specs/2...registry.khronos.orgglTF™ 2.0 Specification 110
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Yes, I haven't verified by checking the actual data manually but that's what I believe is happening. The first video is transferred at the base starting position and the second is transferred at the offset position (which is the right side) 100
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026yeah basically. the positions are stored in the shape keys and the normals (as per blender's implementation) actually seem to *not* be storable in the shape keys, so the data from a data transfer modifier to set the normal data would apply to *all* shape keys. 200
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 30/07/2026idk what it is about agents that makes people think they can write PRs to fix issues for platforms they don't have access to and can't validate repros or fixes on. (I mean, I do know but...) 090
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I do fear that I will end up having to code the normal transfer in-engine anyway, but maybe that won't be so bad since I can encode the shrinkwrap of the positions in blender 100
Chris Biscardi @chrisbiscardi.bsky.social · 29/07/2026kinda of hard to tell if the right data is being set sometimes. Easy to miss applying the right modifier, etc 100
