bushr.at @bushr.at · 23/09/2026Housing security is central to most social problems IMO. My partner and I had to live with my parents into our late twenties just to afford a modest house on dual incomes anywhere near our friends/work/family. 130

bushr.at @bushr.at · 18/09/2026Still the biggest reason I wont use AI tooling. Companies should be held to *higher* standards than individuals. If you train a model on pirated data for yourself, you do you. If OpenAI does it, they should be disintegrated. Same reason why a movie theater can't just play whatever it wants. 050
bushr.at @bushr.at · 13/09/2026There's something extremely on the nose about this butcher using an AI generated banner on an old office building in the middle of the CBD, kilometers away from any grocery store. 110
bushr.at @bushr.at · 13/09/2026It's kinda interesting that only the abimated visual media get this realism focus. Nobody is demanding that music have even higher fidelity, books to have more visceral descriptions, paintings to be more lifelike. It's really just games and videos that need to be "real". 120
bushr.at @bushr.at · 13/09/2026There's an alternate reality where TypeScript never happened, and instead everyone writes JavaScript with the C preprocessor instead. 2251

bushr.at @bushr.at · 10/09/2026Here's a thought, just give them patronage for 5 years to make whatever they want and just see what happens. If nothing comes of it then it's a tax write-off like the ACME vs Coyote film was going to be, otherwise it's a hit. 100
bushr.at @bushr.at · 09/09/2026Ok so here's a thought. These problems got solved because of Lean being able to actually verify the solution. Final proof was 13M LoC IIRC. Genuinely wonder how much more efficient the LLM was at finding those 13M lines compared to, say, random token selection. 240
bushr.at @bushr.at · 08/09/2026By allowing training on unlicensed data, we've explicitly allowed and encouraged this. AI isn't coming for your job, companies are coming for your data, and they have a divine right to it because the models are just worth it at any cost, apparently. 170

bushr.at @bushr.at · 04/09/2026Today I learned that it's apparently silly to want to have a computer powerful enough to compute the problems I'd like to compute. With this knowledge I assume we'll all agree to hand over our developer machines to the nearest RAM collection station and revive Stadia. 150
bushr.at @bushr.at · 04/09/2026You can't just say small models are more environmentally friendly to run in a datacenter, and then dismiss the possibility of *not* running them in a datacenter. I know and agree you can't run frontier on a user's phone. I'm talking about this exact claim you make below. bsky.app/profile/aly.... 000
bushr.at @bushr.at · 04/09/2026Measuring environmental impacts is fractally complex, but I'd say this actually isn't true. While a datacenter *can* use more power efficient parts and use caching to avoid repeated computation, the environmental impact of increased power consumption is of little significance compared to land usage. 230
