A while back when SCOTUS ordered Trump to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia, Roberts said “courts must show due regard and deference” to him on national security matters. Since then, he’s used it to justify everything from the ballroom to the arch, mass deportation, boat strikes, and now this.

Because a federal judge allowed part of the East Wing construction to continue because of national security. His advisors have realized that if you make everything national security, then judges are unwilling to block it.
