The fact that someone with a documented history as a White House advisor can repeatedly use this language without any consequences demonstrates just how far this reactionary project to normalize racism and sexism has gotten, and how Black women are particularly targeted to advance it.

Yesterday ICE agents shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a father, husband, and beloved neighbor who spent 35 years building a life in the U.S. Our hearts are heavy with grief for his family and all those suffering at the hands of ICE, CBP, and this administration's unrelenting cruelty.
Graphic with text that says, "Lorenzo Salgado Araujo should not only still be alive - he should be enjoying the beauty of the life he built." With a quote from Ronaldo Salgado that says, "My father was a private man, a man who dedicated his life to work. He worked the last 30 years of his life building homes in the Houston suburbs. Part of his dream was to build a house for himself and his family, just like the hundreds he had built for himself over his career... He achieved it and after it was built and up until the last weekend, you can find him every evening after work, resting on his porch, listening to music, petting his dog. That's how I want the world to know my father. Not as someone who got shot and killed, but as a family man, a man who understood that good things come to those who put in hard work. I am deeply heartbroken to see that the man who taught me the value of hard work, family values, and education will no longer spend an evening on that porch."

‼️Why this matters: In MN, current protections cost <1% of #Medicaid spending but prevented $129M in unpaid bills in 2024. These cuts will hit safety-net hospitals & clinics hardest—especially in rural areas. Service reductions & facility closures could follow, impacting entire communities. #MedSky

❓What's changing: Since 1972, #Medicaid’s retroactive coverage provisions have protected enrollees from medical bills incurred up to 3 months before coverage began. This helps prevent life-altering debt for low-income people & ensures health care professionals get paid for the care they provide.

I want to be clear that I believe in pediatricians & pediatrics. I believe most members & staff @ameracadpeds.bsky.social at their core, “believe in the inherent worth of all children” & that a child’s worth is not conditioned on where that child was born or any other condition, immutable or not.

Publicly @ameracadpeds.bsky.social aligns their efforts to protect #Vaccines & #Medicaid w/ those of the oppressed & evidence they are holding the line for academic freedom & due process. While privately their board & CEO use the same tactics to suppress disfavored speech & chill further debate.
