I once went to a wedding where the father of bride started his speech, "On this day in 1912, the Titanic set sail from Southampton…"

My brother came home one day, talking about the delicious "soft margarines" he’d had at school. After a considerable about of time and effort my parents eventually figured it out.
An AI generated image of some iced gems in an empty tub of soft margarine. Yes, it’s AI, how could I possibly have a real photo of this?

FFS. Sometimes (nearly all the time, to be honest) I just can’t be bothered with nail varnish, and long nails get in the way of everything. It’s not that deep, but if anything I’m sticking it to the patriarchy. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Last summer I had a delicious chicken chasni at an Indian restaurant in Pitlochery and I’ve been trying to find somewhere local that does it ever since, but I’m beginning to think that the place in Pitlochery is the one and only place that sells it.

Y11 doing a question about candles today. I did not even try to resist the temptation but they were utterly clueless. Who’s educating these people?

This is the wrong part of the country for me but sounds like a good opportunity. But is there someone who knows how life in a sixth form college differs from life in a secondary school? I’ve always been tempted but would want to know more first.

I am very grateful whenever colleagues cover my lessons. Of course I am. I would be even more grateful if they followed my instructions for the lesson rather than doing their own thing and leaving me to figure out that I still need to allow time to do the things I thought had already been done.

Y11 student: do predicted grades matter and do our revision homeworks count towards them? Translation 1: I’m worried that this could be important and I want to do my best. Translation 2: I want to check that this isn’t important so I can get away with doing the minimum amount of work possible.

@hildur.bsky.social We were the (mad) tourists who went looking for northern lights near Krýsuvík! Unnur needn’t have worried though, because we hit fog so dense that we could no longer see the road ahead. All we could do was inch forward until suddenly we popped out in the open again. Terrifying!

Reading on the beach, minding my own business, when a small girl comes bounding past with her mum. “You’ll need to run all along the beach until you find Granny,” says mum. The girl stops, points at me, and yells in delight “found her!”

Call from my bank’s fraud prevention team claiming they needed to check a potentially fraudulent payment (which was indeed one I hadn’t made). They’ll block my card and send a new one and in the meantime I need to check my balances and tell them of anything other payments I’m worried about. 1/

The rawl plugs are in and I think they are the right fit. The only trouble now is that the right screws for the rawl plugs are too thick for the holes in the hook. I guess the curtains aren’t going back up just yet then…

The trouble with teaching students at other schools is that you either have to wait for them to get in touch with their results or for their teachers to stop being busy. Neither will happen in the foreseeable future!

I couldn’t care less if Net Zero is the least popular policy ever - it HAS to happen. Climate change is REAL and it MATTERS and it has to start with fundamental changes at the highest levels of society. Me chucking that yogurt pot into recycling will never be enough.

Please submit a response to this. The distress caused to pets and other wildlife is unnecessary. Safety would also be improved by banning the sale of fireworks to the general public, and the impact on the environment would be reduced.

I’ve seen this (exact 🤔) comment a few times now, and perhaps I’m being overly pedantic, but it’s perfectly possible to speak directly to anybody. The more important question, surely, is whether or not they received a response.

He probably wasn’t the right person to fight the next election, and he’s gone now, so not much to be done this time, but it’s ridiculous to say he was awful or the worst pm ever. The right wing press has a lot to answer for - he’s no liar, they just aren’t telling us what he actually has done.

Having not a single qualification in history, I may have misunderstood the subject totally. But surely it isn’t just about “event A happened” but about analysing evidence - what does source X tell us about event A, who wrote it, can it be trusted? Are we supposed to just ignore evidence now?

I would far rather share my streets with immigrants, the vast majority of whom are normal, peace-loving, hard-working, decent people, than with the far right British thugs who’ll find any excuse to cause trouble, be violent, and literally burn down your house.
