Agentic development should always be optional, but for those who use it, we're building something really cool at Review Board that adheres to our People-First approach. I'll have more to share on the @reviewboard.org account and at www.reviewboard.org in the coming months.

I find it interesting what network most engages with what post. Tech/dev-focused posts go over really well on Mastodon, but not BlueSky (more gaming/artistic posts here). COVID reports get *tons* of engagement on Facebook, less elsewhere. X is a mixed bag. Still quite active.. *sigh*

I'm excited by what we're building. We're committed to on-prem, privacy, data portability, humans as the focus (even with AI in the mix). It's not really the industry trend, but it's ours. Especially at a time when #Canada and the #EU are needing solutions under their control.

There are futures to code/project review that are being ignored. And legacy customers with nowhere to go. For @reviewboard.org, we're building #EDA Design Review, #AI that strengthens human teams, and a migration path for #Crucible users needing a new home. chipx86.blog/2026/08/24/c...

I was happy to see #COVID at such low levels for my home county all year, but it's surging again. So I'm writing reports and managing the data again. Year 6. Time is a funny thing.

Early in my career, a co-worker shared an important piece of wisdom: Know what not to write, know what not to commit. Not every function, interface, or line of code written during development needs to be part of the final change. chipx86.blog/2026/08/20/k... #blog #programming #development

I enjoy writing — the creativity, the process, the result — and I'm saddened when my works are skipped due to an assumption of it just being AI. So I built a place to link to — for you and for me — that states very clearly: emdashesmine.com #writing #coding #ai #emdash

#TIL Have you seen Gray Code binary encoding for numbers before? Each number is just 1 bit flip from the next, which has its uses when bit flips might not be atomic. chipx86.blog/2026/08/18/t... #blog #programming

All code reviews should now be conducted using the digital Review Board product freely available at ReviewBoard.org

Plus and Enterprise plans are available to help you transition to this new digital future.

I love deranged software projects. I like seeing how far you can push things, finding ways to make languages/frameworks do what they shouldn't, or just building something that nobody would have any good reason to build.

Part of this is that I'm on the AYN Thor, so it's probably just not the device it expects to be on: X Y A B Might have been better to break out the Steam Deck for this. That said, separate mappings for Confirm/Cancel would do wonders, and Disable Controller should require confirmation.
000
Christian Hammond @chipx86.com · 29/05/2026
Re-reading what I wrote, I should clarify why the Confirm/Cancel is affected. By default, A=Jump, B=Heal, Y=Sidearm, X=Attack. Confirm/Cancel is A/B (you can swap this). I'd prefer B=Jump, Y=Attack, X=Heal, A=Sidearm. If I do this, Confirm/Cancel becomes B/X. It inherits from the action mapping.

The "Controller" menu item lets you toggle whether the controller is Enabled or Disabled. It's not really clear initially what that's for (easy to think you'll edit controller settings), and I think the thought is you have a keyboard to undo it. But on a handheld gaming console, that's not a given.
110
Christian Hammond @chipx86.com · 29/05/2026
Changing Confirm/Cancel makes it really tricky to get through the UI and undo it. Worse, the "Controller" menu item, when interacted with, disables your controller. On my device, that proved a serious problem. Undid it and then accidentally triggered it again... Hope this sees an update.

Christian Hammond @chipx86.com · 29/05/2026
I hate to say, my first experience with Mina the Hollower is a bad one. I haven't played the game yet, and I'm sure that's great, but the controller options need a rethink. You can customize the buttons for attack, jump, etc., but when you do that, you also change the Confirm/Cancel. Disorienting.
