This Humboldt Park Church Is Returning To Its Roots As A Movie Theater And Community Hub
Ken Gaebler is converting a former Pentecostal church on West Grand Avenue into La Reina, a movie theater and community hub. The building dates back to the 1890s and was also a vaudeville theater.

Originally called "40th Ave.," this street at 4000 W. in Chicago was renamed "Crawford" in 1913. After a contentious 19-year-long battle to get it changed in honor of Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski, it was finally changed to "Pulaski Rd" in 1952. Some buildings still display the old name.

In honor of that outstanding White Sox win last night, here's the final resting place of one of the greats. Minnie Miñoso (“Mr. White Sox”) broke the team’s color barrier in 1951 and became a franchise icon. He’s buried at Graceland Cemetery, where this monument was unveiled in 2024.
