24 rachises of different shape and stages of domestication, here radiocarbon-dated to the terminal Tocuyanoid AD 395–460. Ancient maize DNA is similar to current day domesticates. We also find human authentic aDNA on a masticated maize fiber, and aDNA from plants typical of tropical Colombia...

NEW PAPER! Another interesting angle from our interdisciplinary work on global linguistic and genetic data -with the GeLaTo database!🍦🧬. We used measures of homozygosity to track genetically isolated regions, and proved that this factor is the stronger predictor of high linguistic entropy.

Some features are preferentially borrowed between languages under contact, while a minority of features preferentially diverge. In contact within the same macro geographic region, prosody is a feature that preferentially diverges: a signal of distinction and identity marking!

... as we are using genetics as an independent source to spot instances of contact between populations that speak unrelated languages. The ADMIXTURE runs from K=2 to K=30 on a global set of 4768 individuals in 558 populations associated with 373 languages is already an interesting result itself!
