In an ideal world everyone counts. But we don’t live in that world. The two people killed in DC will get a lot of attention and deservedly so it’s tragic. But the same attention and outrage should be shown for the thousands killed in Palestine but sadly I don’t see that happening

It says a lot about who we are as Americans that there is not mass protest happening over what the Trump administration is doing. It’s clear a large chunk of Americans do not see a certain subset of immigrants as human beings deserving of the same rights and privileges they have

The Trump administration knowingly deported a Maryland father with legal protection from removal—sending him to El Salvador’s megaprison. Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s situation is explained below. Full Story: bit.ly/4iPqMHz
- Came to the U.S. at 16 after fleeing gang death threats
- In 2019, an immigration judge granted him withholding of removal, a legal status protecting him from deportation after finding he'd likely be persecuted if returned
- No U.S. criminal record
- Married to a U.S. citizen, father to a 5-year-old disabled son
- Regularly complied with ICE check-ins
- ICE admitted it knew he had legal protection—but put him on the deportation flight anyway
- Not on the manifest—added as an "alternate"
- Now held in a prison for gang members, despite no charges or verified gang affiliation
The government now argues U.S. courts can't order his return.
His wife recognized him in a propaganda photo released by El Salvador's president—head forced down, frog-marched by masked guards.
ICE calls it an "administrative error."
Then says it was done "in good faith."

Yes
These are all real problems, with real harms, and it behoves us to engage with them seriously. But we cannot do that by proclaiming ‘woke over-reach’ the villain when actual, structural issues go unaddressed. In the UK, for example, if asked to solve the impenetrable mystery of why so many boys are aimless, dissocialised, and credulous, I might point to the fact that 70% of schools have less funding than they did in 2010. Or that two thirds of council-run youth centres in England have closed in the same period, along with 30% of leisure centres and 20% of libraries. Add to that thousands of football pitches, swimming pools, boxing clubs, and communal spaces. Pretending that the effects of such obvious social vandalism are somehow outweighed by people on Twitter talking about ‘male privilege’
demeans the issues at hand, as well as our collective intelligence.

A few minor concerns with rebating 20% of DOGE savings to taxpayers. 1) Current budget deficits of nearly $2 trillion. 2) Congress already drafting trillions more in tax cuts. 3) The (perhaps) $4 billion saved so far comes to $800 million rebated or $2.42 per person.
