$Instagram post reading: During Saturday's September 19th Gotham FC vs. NC Courage match, commentary following an incident where Jordynn Dudley's hair was pulled in the 53rd minute crossed a line into unfair critique. Hair pulling is an objective foul, regardless of intent. Yet instead of addressing the infraction, commentators criticized Jordynn's hair length, framing the foul as a "consequence" of her style and a "risk" to opposition players. A player's hairstyle should not be used to shift responsibility for a foul onto the player who was fouled. Players should be able to wear their hair in a way that reflects who they are without it becoming justification for unfair criticism when an opponent commits an infraction.
