"The hour-long gap left by the noisy departure of the Smothers Brothers is being filled by The Leslie Uggams Show. Producers Saul lison and Ernest Chambers (who were the Smotherses' original producers) say that Miss Uggams is doing a comedy show with music, not vice versa—roughly 60 percent comedy, 40 percent music. And they insist they are not shying away from satire.

A regular feature is a family-comedy sketch called "SugarHill," sort of a black counterpart of "The Honeymooners." Two or three guests are expected to show up each week, among them Raymond Burr,Sebastian Cabot, Barbara Feldon, Don Knotts, Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, Mitch Miller, Sly and the Family Stone, and Dick Van Dyke.
