Day 4 sees @cheebart.bsky.social's delightful Beau dancing into view. This is dancing, they're not playfully defending themselves from an incoming water balloon. As a side note from my first attempt with ink wash, tis tricky to see what you're doing with transparent washes on a light box. #Octobink

A black ink-brush illustration on white paper sits on a purple carpet. The illustration shows the character Beau dancing happily on a backgrounds of starry shafts of light. Their star-shaped hair and bracelets swish with the movement.

I think I get what the asterisk is implying.... Beau always does get a lil cranky when they're in the zone

So for the past few days I've been doodling my fatal flaw characters as an October challenge, so here's the first four days!

Day 1
Ballpoint pen drawing of Liv, Jesse's teenage sister sleeping on top of Jesse, highlighted with pink marker with text saying 'honk shoo' and 'mimimi'

Day 2
Nix and Beau gaming together. Nix being far too casual about just having died in a soulslike game while Beau is very intense about their rhythm game. Highlighted with pink marker with the words 'perfect combo'.

Day 3
Bibi experimenting with makeup on her dad Félix (or Mercury). Highlighted with pink marker and with text saying;
'Do u feel bonita?
'I feel bonita.'
'Good! Because you look bonita!'

Day 4
Ulan holding his cat Blackie or 'Inday' as he affectionately calls her whilst his sphinx cat Rat climbs his shoulder and digs claws into him.
Highlighted with pink marker with the words 'Rat' above the sphinx cat and 'Inday' above the black cat.

We begin the, I'm sure you'll agree, wonderfully named #Octobink proper with a nice simple sphere. To this we add a glass of milk and, hey presto, it's @cheebart.bsky.social's Geshy!

A black ink-brush illustration on white paper sits on a purple carpet. The illustration shows a very round and cheerful lizardfolk Durgesh sitting on the floor, tail and legs splayed out, staring happily into the distance with a glass of milk in their hands.

More dutiful catching-up on posting things, and today it's Claudio's spot from my long-forgotten newsletter. It's me, I forgot it. A quick little painting and a gaggle of doodlage for my surprisingly long-running grumpy lil' rag-doll.

A scrappy digital portrait of a grumpy rag doll looking down at the viewer, superimposed upon a blue-tinted background. Thick fluffy felt eyebrows scowl atop the gleaming green button eyes and red bandana wrapped atop yellow rope dreadlocks. His wide mouth grimaces disapproval as two sewing needles protrude from his head, thread still dangling from them.

A collection of reddish brown doodles of a small angry rag-doll character Claudio. In the top left he struggles, sopping-wet, to clamber out from being tangled in a pile of clothes in a washing machine. To the right he's being held by the foot, flapping and dangling in the air, by curious lizardman Durgesh. Below that he pokes his head into frame grimacing in frustration. To the left of this is Flynn, the slime, attempting to stop Claudio from going past him, who instead sprints through Flynn with a small splash of slime, leaving a Claudio-shaped hole. Beside this Claudio impishly holds up a box of doughnuts to a brain-in-a-jar robot P.D. who attempts to toss them at Tori the minotaur's horns a la ring-toss Below them a scene from Star Wars plays out, with Claudio shouting "It's over Emmakin! I have the high ground!" to Emm, a lady so tall that despite not having the high ground is still looking down on him. To her right is Claudio, bedecked in a cat-ear headband and whiskers, looking most displeased.

A second set of doodles begins in the top left with Claudio clushing on to the lapels of Frankensteinian construct October, pulling their faced close together in anger, much to October's surprise. To their right is a flinching Claudio as a gloved hand jabs him in the head with a sewing needle. Below him, he and P.D. are rocking out to some heavy music, P.D. playing air guiter, Claudio leaping with a ruler as a guitar surrogate. To their left Claudio slams down with both hands onto a surface with all of his (limited) might. Below sees Claudio almost entirely tangled in a network of wires. Finally to the right of him we see October again looking over at Claudio gratefully as the latter sews the former's arm back on.

Sully, my character for a pokémon rpg I'm doing with friends, has a chronic case going on of 'looking cooler than they actually are'.

A character in pokémon art style crouched down, they are wearing a crobat hat and overal has a poison-theming with purple, black and green against a purple and green background. The letters say Sully, as is the character's name.

Still very behind on actually showing comics anywhere other than my website, so here's a 10-month old slice of domestic bliss with Jay & Kay. It also marks the early days of my recent struggles with colour and a not very successful attempt to control it. Cute though. #OutliersComic

In a dark room we see a very tired Jay wrapped in a purple blanked upon a cushion-strewn red sofa. They are illuminated by the light of the laptop they're dutifully tapping away at. Behind them approaches the blonde-haired Kay, clad in a pink nightgown.
Kay: Babe, come to bed. It's 2AM
Jay: There in a sec. I'm almost done.
Kay: You said that three hours ago.
Jay: Well... I'm still almost done.
Kay, knowing this is more than simply losing track of time, hitches up beside Jay on the sofa.
Kay: Okay, what's the problem?
Jay: It's just work. New client, stupid demands.
Kay: More specific. Please.
Jay: Well we need to overhaul their back-end, but it's not been updated since PHP 4.4, and there are deprecated functions everywhere, and the whole database was probably compromised by multi-source code-injection...
Kay: Slightly less specific, maybe.

Jay forlornly babbles, leaning forward and gesturing at their screen. Kay tried to comfort them with an arm around their shoulder.
Jay: ...and our *stupid* manager agreed to the project without asking any of the team if it was possible, and it's 3 months work *minimum* but she agreed the contract for 3 *weeks*, and we can't replace the whole boilerplate in that time, at best patch it, but it's more security vulnerability than it is code, but if the site dies after we've touched it *we're* the ones up the shitter-
Kay: Jay, you're spiralling. Deep breaths. Short sentences.
Jay spirals further, grappling with their laptop and it's power cord, seemingly oblivious to Kay's attempts to calm them.
Jay: But *listen*, we're already in trouble from the cache breach on the last job and if we lost this contract we're gonna *go under*, and I can't get a new job because the market fucking *sucks* right now, it's all tech-bros and *AI*, and I don't know what I'm gonna do if I can't provide for us, and *you're* gonna have to go back to your *parents*, and *I'm* gonna-

Kay pulls his arms in pulling the now shaking Jay closer to him. His other hand gently guides their chin into a soft kiss. Before long Jay begins to relax and deflate. Smoke rises from their head and the kiss continues. Kay quietly closes the screen of the laptop without looking as the two share a moment. Eventually the kiss is broken and a now dizzy, but smiling Jay queries their smiling boyfriend.
Jay: Oh, hey hun.
Kay: Hey babe.
Jay: What's going on?
Kay: Nothing. Just had to turn you off and on again.

A little piece I did for a new set of business cards. Made me want to get back into my landscapes. Honestly there’s far too much I want to get back into. #art #fantasy #centaur

Dusk sinks under a snow covered treeline, splitting its the final golden rays, as warm as the embers of a forest fire, over the ice crusted foliage into a grassy clearing beyond. The shadows are already pale grey before the pines and the purple of the sky is deepening. In this veiling hour a centaur, with a travelling cloak around their shoulders, makes their way towards the woods. They are dark before the falling light they stride towards and pause before they go on their way, leaning on their staff and looking back into the clearing while their tail flicks. Whatever they look out to, they are not duly bothered by it.

Commissions! I do them! Did you know? Probably not, because I frequently intimidate myself out of advertising them. Still they're open over on m'Ko-Fi for the specific tiers given here: Sketches, cartoony doodles, emotes and ✨Style Roulette✨. Higher tiers coming soon. ko-fi.com/crispyparsni...

On the middle of a purple-tinted hexagonal grid, the title 'Crispy's Ko-fi Commissions' stands emblazoned in yellow and brown. The hexagons in the top left show a variety of sketch commission examples, handily labelled 'Sketch'. The top-right hexagons contain colourful digital doodles with thick line-art, labelled 'Doodle'. In the bottom left a gaggle of expressive character faces colourfully fill in hexagons, labelled 'Emote'. Finally the bottom right shows a wider array of character illustrations varying in style, labelled 'Roulette'

Titled 'Sketch Commissions' we see a variety of digital pencil-like illustrations shaded in monochrome and tinted a variety of colours. Beside them lie prices for their illustrative tiers:
Bust: £15 (approx. $20)
Waist: £22 (approx. $30)
Full: £30 (approx. $40)
+Character: +£15 (approx. +$20)
The hexagons beside this prices illustrate the tiers: A purple portrait of a smiling female teifling sits above a waist-up illustration of a whimsically smiling centaur and a full-bodied sketch of a recorder-blowing goblin with 'DOOT' emblazoned on their background. Below all of these we see a sketch of a harpy character wielding a spear, looking down at a small elf who crouches enthusiastically, pointing into the distance.

In the top half, titled 'Doodle Commissions' we see prices for a few labelled tiers.
Base: £20 (approx. $25)
Shading: £10 (approx. $15)
+Character: £20 (approx. $25)
To the right of these several hexagons show example doodles, such as a quivering duck in a pink Hawaiian shirt, a lackadaisical skater-lizard, Final Fantasy IX's Freya blowing bubbles, a ghost on a ghostly motorcycle, and a very buff rat.
The lover half, titled 'Emotes', shows pricing per quantity of emote purchased
x1: £15 (approx. $20)
x2: £30 (approx. $40)
x3: £40 (approx. $55)
x6: £60 (approx. $80)
To the left of the prices is an irregular grid of hexagons containing example emotes, including someone pointing knowingly to their head whilst staring at the viewer, small wizard mouse shouting 'OOOOO', a crying character, a snoring wolf-woman, a buff character flexing their bicep, a giggling character, a character cheering with colourful pom-poms, an angry rag-doll, the wide eyes of an excited goblin, a grumpy character with their arms folded and an enthusiastic hedgehog shouting 'YES'

The title 'Style Roulette Commissions' heads a list of criteria:
You Give: An OC, an adjective, £50 (approx. $70) - You Get: A mystery illustration of your OC in a style I think looks very cool indeed
Beside this is a wide collection of character illustrations in a variety of styles, including 1920's poster, Disney's Robin Hood, digital paintings, Aardman plasticene character, Nintendo 64 3D render, pastel-rendered portrait, heavily inked cartoon, Hanna-Barbera cartoon, hatched pencils and cutout stencils.
At the bottom are a series of terms headed 'Terms'
- No gore or hateful content
- Happy to draw OCs and pets
- No AI- or NFT-related projects
- Mechs & mild NSFW subject to approval
- PNG & PSD formats given. Timelapses available on request

It's been quite some time since I last posted, keeping busy with commissions and daydreaming about OCs. So to represent some of the latter before I advertise the former, here's a little alignment chart I stole from Tumblr and populated with a handful of my idiots. Oh, and I discovered hatching.

A purple-toned 3-by-3 grid of scribbly character portraits are labelled in the columns Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic, and the rows Tired, Stupid and Bastard.
In the top left "Lawful Tired" square the wolf-woman Luna half-heartedly gestures towards a bundle of business reports in her hand. To her right under "Neutral Tired" is Kay, a man leaning against the left wall of the square whilst staring into the distance beside him. To his right the "Chaotic Tired" frankenstein-construct January, splattered in batter and wielding a similarly spattered spoon, smiles at the viewer.
Their sibling February begins the second row under "Lawful Stupid", grinning widely whilst holding up their business card between two fingers, unaware that it's upside-down. Beside them is minotaur Tori representing "Neutral Stupid" staring up with mild concern at the ceiling. Beside him dangles Emm, a messy-haired woman gripping the "Chaotic Stupid" square's frame, holding herself upside-down.
The third row sees (at least the outfit of) invisible man Griff, leaning out of his square to glare incredulously at his label of "Lawful Bastard". To his right the "Neutral Bastard" square sees Malakhi, a young man leaning on the base of the grid, snarling at the viewer and raising both of his middle fingers in a way that would be menacing if he weren't so squidgy. Finally the bottom right "Chaotic Bastard" square contains a whole lot of fire, from the centre of which lunges a maniacally smiling construct November, clearly relishing the crackling consequences of their arson actions.

Read @maigadoocy.bsky.social ‘Sorcery & Small Magics’ & I’m making it everyone’s problem I’d endlessly read these 2 quarrelling while bring utterly exceptional in their collaboration. If u like banter, shit stirring & the consequences of one’s own actions, read this book. #art #SorceryandSmallMagic

Characters from Maiga Doocy’s ‘Sorcery & Small Magics’
Leovander, though bias narrator and world of trouble that he is, described Sebastian Grimm as a man that lived up to his name, having all the bearing of a thundercloud, with pale grey hair, at 21 yrs old, to match. The golden light he looks into does little to warm the focus of his hard features, nor soften his posture, made all the more unyielding by the lines of his black coat. Perfect pleats and smooth plains leading down his back to a flat, wide indigo sash at his waist, embroidered with rain over rolling waves. Over it a belt supports a sword hanger, weighed down by a rapier. The black hanger itself is embossed with wheat before a flower, while the sword is gripped in the shadow of Grimm’s quietly poised stance.
Nothing about said stance invites anyone upon it, and yet, only goaded by walls of any kind, Leovander is on him. The contrast between the 2 young men is stark; Leo’s barely restrained mahogany hair falls around his face and gathers in the popped collar of his open green coat, itself scrunched at the waist under a hastily cinched red sash. A generous collection of silver ornamentation, calling sign of the scandalous musician, adorns his ears and every finger but for the third on both hands.
Whatever is so occupying Grimm, Leo is ready to weigh in, eager for the game. One arm is hooked over Grimm’s shoulder, falling down his back with an easy temper, while a violin bow in Leo’s fingers crosses down till the strings rest atop Grimm’s sword hand. Leo’s other arm then secures the man into closer confidence, linking over the second shoulder while his hand is raised into the feathered back of Grimm’s otherwise neatly combed hair, where it guards a whisper. Whatever Leo is divulging, the curl of his lip is already smug in the certainty that the problem before them is no match for his self assured cunning, and however uninviting Grimm’s demeanour is, he shows no inclination not to hear the troublemaker out.

A little prequel comic I made for my OC project Fatal Flaw. 2 years prior to the current Fatal Flaw events, Moira met Ulan and their first meeting was ... definitely well-thought out on her behalf.

'Job Offer' - a prequel comic for an OC project
panel 1: street view in limited colour palette with a tiny figure sitting next to a vending machine.
Panel 2: Zooming in further on the person sitting next to the vending machine. It's a younger version of Moira with longer hair, all bundled up.
Panel 3: Moira is trying to open up a snack from the vending machine and struggling
Panel 4 & 5: Moira succesfully opening the snack and chomping on it, as illegible text in a text balloon becomes legible. The legible text says 'I might be able to pull some strings, but don't you think you're harbouring unrealistic expectations of me? It's not like there's a line of people willing to work for you, no matter how much you're willing to pay.'
Panel 6: Moira peeking in on the person speaking, a fancy dressed man in a trench coat who is talking to a tall man with long hair and a prosthetic leg. The latter being Ulan.

Page 2
Panel 1: Zoom in on the bottom half of Ulan's face as he speaks. 'I don't think I'm asking for too much. If you can't do it, we don't need to meet again.'
Panel 2: zoom in on the bottom half of the unknown man's face. 'Now, now, don't say that. I never said I couldn't.'
Panel 3: Zoom in on Moira's face as she peeks in as the unknown man continues speaking. 'Don't worry, I'll find you some people who are desperate enough ... I wouldn't want to miss out on the show after all.'
Panel 4: The unknown man walks away, tossing a coin to Moira as Ulan stays behind.
Panel 5: Moira catches the coin.
Panel 6: A close up to the coin in Moira's hand as she thinks.
Panel 7: Moira looking at Ulan who is walking away.
Panel 8,9,10: Moira picking up her bag, and following after Ulan from a distance. He has noticed her and Moira ends up watching him walk into a boarded-up building.

Page 3
panel 1: Moira from the street looking up at the roof, showing an open rooftop hatch.
Panel 2: close up of Moira's hand as she begins her ascend to the roof.
Panel 3,4,5: Moira climbing up to the roof, hoisting herself up with a little noise of struggle, and looking down the hatch.
Panel 6: Moira falling down the rooftop hatch muppet-style with a loud 'CRASH'.
Panel 7,8,9: Moira lying on the floor, delighted at seeing a cat in front of her, only to see someone appearing behind the cat and looking up to see Ulan.
Panel 10: Ulan, holding a gun aimed at Moira, looking very dangerous while Moira nervously speaks. 'eh.. heh. Hello .... I'm here for that job application?'

A coloured drawing of Ragh (left) who has his shirt riding up and Parsley (right) who is thinking about biting him (affectionate).

My quaint fantasy world of Avonvale has just been quietly simmering in the back of my mind for a while. So when I started making newsletter comics it seemed right to give it a whimsical little outlet. Anywho, here's Mira having a perfectly sensible time.

A four-panel comic strip. In the first panel we see Mira, a small bandana-clad girl, standing proud at the bow of a small row-boat splashing through the calm waters of the ocean. Behind her Zig, a rope-golem, dutifully rows.
SPLOOSH! All of a sudden a giant purple, tentacled beast erupts from the water! Mira and Zig leap in shock! But Mira has a plan! Abandon ship! She leaps over the opposite edge of the boat, pointing authoritatively as Zig leans forward to stop her.
We then cut to reality where a very muddy Mira leaps from a high-hanging flower pot down into the arms of her surprised dad Pero. Zig, still in the flower pot, reaches down in an attempt to grab her, their other hand holding onto a wooden spoon.
