More dutiful catching-up on posting things, and today it's Claudio's spot from my long-forgotten newsletter. It's me, I forgot it. A quick little painting and a gaggle of doodlage for my surprisingly long-running grumpy lil' rag-doll.

Below him, he and P.D. are rocking out to some heavy music, P.D. playing air guiter, Claudio leaping with a ruler as a guitar surrogate. To their left Claudio slams down with both hands onto a surface with all of his (limited) might. Below sees Claudio almost entirely tangled in a network of wires. Finally to the right of him we see October again looking over at Claudio gratefully as the latter sews the former's arm back on.

Still very behind on actually showing comics anywhere other than my website, so here's a 10-month old slice of domestic bliss with Jay & Kay. It also marks the early days of my recent struggles with colour and a not very successful attempt to control it. Cute though. #OutliersComic

In a dark room we see a very tired Jay wrapped in a purple blanked upon a cushion-strewn red sofa. They are illuminated by the light of the laptop they're dutifully tapping away at. Behind them approaches the blonde-haired Kay, clad in a pink nightgown.
Kay: Babe, come to bed. It's 2AM
Jay: There in a sec. I'm almost done.
Kay: You said that three hours ago.
Jay: Well... I'm still almost done.
Kay, knowing this is more than simply losing track of time, hitches up beside Jay on the sofa.
Kay: Okay, what's the problem?
Jay: It's just work. New client, stupid demands.
Kay: More specific. Please.
Jay: Well we need to overhaul their back-end, but it's not been updated since PHP 4.4, and there are deprecated functions everywhere, and the whole database was probably compromised by multi-source code-injection...
Kay: Slightly less specific, maybe.

Jay forlornly babbles, leaning forward and gesturing at their screen. Kay tried to comfort them with an arm around their shoulder.
Jay: ...and our *stupid* manager agreed to the project without asking any of the team if it was possible, and it's 3 months work *minimum* but she agreed the contract for 3 *weeks*, and we can't replace the whole boilerplate in that time, at best patch it, but it's more security vulnerability than it is code, but if the site dies after we've touched it *we're* the ones up the shitter-
Kay: Jay, you're spiralling. Deep breaths. Short sentences.
Jay spirals further, grappling with their laptop and it's power cord, seemingly oblivious to Kay's attempts to calm them.
Jay: But *listen*, we're already in trouble from the cache breach on the last job and if we lost this contract we're gonna *go under*, and I can't get a new job because the market fucking *sucks* right now, it's all tech-bros and *AI*, and I don't know what I'm gonna do if I can't provide for us, and *you're* gonna have to go back to your *parents*, and *I'm* gonna-

Kay pulls his arms in pulling the now shaking Jay closer to him. His other hand gently guides their chin into a soft kiss. Before long Jay begins to relax and deflate. Smoke rises from their head and the kiss continues. Kay quietly closes the screen of the laptop without looking as the two share a moment. Eventually the kiss is broken and a now dizzy, but smiling Jay queries their smiling boyfriend.
Jay: Oh, hey hun.
Kay: Hey babe.
Jay: What's going on?
Kay: Nothing. Just had to turn you off and on again.

Dusk sinks under a snow covered treeline, splitting its the final golden rays, as warm as the embers of a forest fire, over the ice crusted foliage into a grassy clearing beyond. The shadows are already pale grey before the pines and the purple of the sky is deepening. In this veiling hour a centaur, with a travelling cloak around their shoulders, makes their way towards the woods. They are dark before the falling light they stride towards and pause before they go on their way, leaning on their staff and looking back into the clearing while their tail flicks. Whatever they look out to, they are not duly bothered by it.

It's been quite some time since I last posted, keeping busy with commissions and daydreaming about OCs. So to represent some of the latter before I advertise the former, here's a little alignment chart I stole from Tumblr and populated with a handful of my idiots. Oh, and I discovered hatching.

A purple-toned 3-by-3 grid of scribbly character portraits are labelled in the columns Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic, and the rows Tired, Stupid and Bastard.
In the top left "Lawful Tired" square the wolf-woman Luna half-heartedly gestures towards a bundle of business reports in her hand. To her right under "Neutral Tired" is Kay, a man leaning against the left wall of the square whilst staring into the distance beside him. To his right the "Chaotic Tired" frankenstein-construct January, splattered in batter and wielding a similarly spattered spoon, smiles at the viewer.
Their sibling February begins the second row under "Lawful Stupid", grinning widely whilst holding up their business card between two fingers, unaware that it's upside-down. Beside them is minotaur Tori representing "Neutral Stupid" staring up with mild concern at the ceiling. Beside him dangles Emm, a messy-haired woman gripping the "Chaotic Stupid" square's frame, holding herself upside-down.
The third row sees (at least the outfit of) invisible man Griff, leaning out of his square to glare incredulously at his label of "Lawful Bastard". To his right the "Neutral Bastard" square sees Malakhi, a young man leaning on the base of the grid, snarling at the viewer and raising both of his middle fingers in a way that would be menacing if he weren't so squidgy. Finally the bottom right "Chaotic Bastard" square contains a whole lot of fire, from the centre of which lunges a maniacally smiling construct November, clearly relishing the crackling consequences of their arson actions.

Characters from Maiga Doocy’s ‘Sorcery & Small Magics’
Leovander, though bias narrator and world of trouble that he is, described Sebastian Grimm as a man that lived up to his name, having all the bearing of a thundercloud, with pale grey hair, at 21 yrs old, to match. The golden light he looks into does little to warm the focus of his hard features, nor soften his posture, made all the more unyielding by the lines of his black coat. Perfect pleats and smooth plains leading down his back to a flat, wide indigo sash at his waist, embroidered with rain over rolling waves. Over it a belt supports a sword hanger, weighed down by a rapier. The black hanger itself is embossed with wheat before a flower, while the sword is gripped in the shadow of Grimm’s quietly poised stance.
Nothing about said stance invites anyone upon it, and yet, only goaded by walls of any kind, Leovander is on him. The contrast between the 2 young men is stark; Leo’s barely restrained mahogany hair falls around his face and gathers in the popped collar of his open green coat, itself scrunched at the waist under a hastily cinched red sash. A generous collection of silver ornamentation, calling sign of the scandalous musician, adorns his ears and every finger but for the third on both hands.
Whatever is so occupying Grimm, Leo is ready to weigh in, eager for the game. One arm is hooked over Grimm’s shoulder, falling down his back with an easy temper, while a violin bow in Leo’s fingers crosses down till the strings rest atop Grimm’s sword hand. Leo’s other arm then secures the man into closer confidence, linking over the second shoulder while his hand is raised into the feathered back of Grimm’s otherwise neatly combed hair, where it guards a whisper. Whatever Leo is divulging, the curl of his lip is already smug in the certainty that the problem before them is no match for his self assured cunning, and however uninviting Grimm’s demeanour is, he shows no inclination not to hear the troublemaker out.

A little prequel comic I made for my OC project Fatal Flaw. 2 years prior to the current Fatal Flaw events, Moira met Ulan and their first meeting was ... definitely well-thought out on her behalf.

My quaint fantasy world of Avonvale has just been quietly simmering in the back of my mind for a while. So when I started making newsletter comics it seemed right to give it a whimsical little outlet. Anywho, here's Mira having a perfectly sensible time.

A four-panel comic strip. In the first panel we see Mira, a small bandana-clad girl, standing proud at the bow of a small row-boat splashing through the calm waters of the ocean. Behind her Zig, a rope-golem, dutifully rows.
SPLOOSH! All of a sudden a giant purple, tentacled beast erupts from the water! Mira and Zig leap in shock! But Mira has a plan! Abandon ship! She leaps over the opposite edge of the boat, pointing authoritatively as Zig leans forward to stop her.
We then cut to reality where a very muddy Mira leaps from a high-hanging flower pot down into the arms of her surprised dad Pero. Zig, still in the flower pot, reaches down in an attempt to grab her, their other hand holding onto a wooden spoon.

When people look up the word ‘himbo’ there’ll be a picture of this man, or something like him; whether or not the small antlers protruding from his shaven side and soft deer ears exclude him is your call, but in every other sense he fulfils the definition.

Observe the way he sits, legs totally unpoised, one folded before him, the other behind, with his arms propping him up. This man is no threat, his beef cake physique might suggest the potential but with that body language, in nothing but gym shorts and socks, the thought of pouncing upon anyone has not crossed his mind, indeed not much has crossed his mind at all. Who knows what he is blushing up at to his right, with doughy eyes, a goofy smile and a vaguely crimped brow (because after all he’s always a little confused); some lovely being or perhaps a lot of good food? Whatever it is, he's interpreting it in soft feelings and warm colours since syllables are a little out of range.

Indeed somewhere behind his giant tits there beats a heart of gold,

Behind that stray hair falling over his forehead sits a nice spaciousness cranium,

And the packaging speaks for itself.

Very much the epitome of the deerbros I draw.

This man is disgustingly pretty. Alarmingly even. What with the sharp jaw line and shoulders length the hair falling about the lines of his neck before his muscular shoulders. No one would blame you for being so startled by his very fey countenance that you resolved to hit him with your car; in fact you wouldn't be the first. It's not that he’s a bad man, he’s just not a very clever one, and hasn’t ever clocked that it's not that his antlers are making people assume he’s some roe buck, and thus startling them into a defensive reaction, but more the fact that he is neighked (forgive the spelling) and only confusing matters with his statuesque physique. When people give a police report on the adonis wondering through the woods, they won't even think to mention the doe ears, they never noticed them.

Along side finding some clothes that do more for modesty that whatever that sarong is that he is currently tying around his waist, he might consider that when he looks through his brow at people with those come hither eyes, over that slightly rugged crook in his nose, he’s prompting a certain fight or flight response, and asking to eat a windscreen. Again.

Was commissioned to draw @darksunrebel.bsky.social's happy dwarf-dad Badruk for an Odyssey campaign. Things, it seems, took a turn.

On a warm, sunlit afternoon in an ancient Greek-styled city, a stout dwarven craftsman Badruk leans upon an anvil with a hammer. His braided beard winds between golden rings and cascades over a rune-embossed leather apron, holding a variety of tools and bags. A collapsible, bronze shield leans against the anvil reflecting the roaring fire from the furnace behind. Behind that a market place bustles with activity, covering the steps leading into a grand column-adorned stone temple.

Amidst the smoke-filled ruins of an ancient Greek-styled city, a stout dwarven Barbarian rages wildly toward the viewer. Bare-chested with tattered leather skirt and cuffs, he steps forward, arms pinned back as if ready to lunge. Around him lie the crumbling rock and splintered wood of a broken blacksmith's forge and market square. Behind all this crumbles the roof and columns of a great stone temple, enshrouded in plumes of smoke matching the tumultuously orange sky.

Of all the style challenges I've put myself up to, for some reason I keep coming back to this one of the otherwise human Cuthbert (mine) & Jupiter (@chibinetherlands.bsky.social's) thrust into the world of Great Mouse Detective. I think, and this might be a long shot, it's because it's very silly.

Two characters, Jupiter and Cuthbert, drawn in the anthropomorphised mouse style of 'The Great Mouse Detective'. Jupiter is calmly talking to someone off-screen whilst gripping onto Cuthbert's ear causing him to keel back in pain.

Practicing…this…kind of build. To keep myself entertained I design one off characters like this guy. I got elvish prince, soon to inherit the throne vibes. Used to his siblings taking the piss behind his back; these giggling humans however… What story do u get from him? #art #elves #fantasy #abs

An incredibly well built and toned elvish man, especially in the chest and torso, with Hector of Troy air about him. Despite his long tied back hair, woven tiara and even the fact that he is topless, he seems an incredibly stoic and square individual. Regal, totally humourless and the oldest brother who all takes all the responsibility. He’s absolutely no fun, though his younger siblings do still make their sport out of him when they think he’s out of earshot.
Here he sits with his hands on his upper thighs and looks over his shoulder, both confused and deeply unimpressed at the humans giggling at him.
He doesn't usually have to converse with humans, he has no idea what they're tittering at, but he knows it's an appalling way to treat a guest. Also it makes them look stupid. And makes him feel very self conscious.
