🎮 2026 Game #136: Okko The Exiled Exceptional pixel art coupled with some surprisingly fleshed out combat for the genre. Plenty of movement options too, makes the gameplay feel fast and fun. That said, additional polish would have been nice and I can't say I cared for the story. 6/10 #IndieGames

perhaps little-known is that Vangers (1998) is part of the same narrative continuum as the game Perimeter (2004), also by K-D Lab. i've posted about it before, but the story is genuinely fascinating. a lot of depth was lost in translation, but has been restored to an extent in a recent Steam patch.

Idk if other people do this, but this was just so helpful for shading Drew a cube in the perspective of the piece, marked center of each face, then cut off the corners I got this 14 sided polygon, which I could use to map out the lighting to use as reference for the rest of the piece.

Tragic considering this is somewhat the successor of Tokyo Jungle (same director) but I'm not surprised at all. I heard more talk about the Ao Oni remake they put out than this. Luckily they're putting an offline mode for when I can finally play this, UE5 be damned.

What happened to SiN is incredible because it should've been a slam dunk and put Half-Life in the gutter, but the original was notoriously rushed out the door. Still, as much as it didn't become the most influential game of its time, it still was way ahead of its contemporaries.

My homie and I had this beautiful conversation today in which we brought up Burnout Paradise and we agreed that it's a pretty good game! But it's not the same as the originals. Like, it wasn't disappointing at all! It's great! And both would gladly play it again! But it's just not the same!!!

Design concepts for the Xbox 360 from two companies: Hers Experimental Design Lab in Osaka and Astro in San Francisco. Both submitted designs with one primary focus: appeal to Japanese tastes and avoid what happened to the original Xbox there. One of them was this comfy looking cushioned design.
