Governments ignore the science and prefer to just focus on climate change as an energy transition: as a spur to kick start a still completely unsustainable capitalism. We’re in breach of multiple planetary boundaries and they - and we - are deeply interdependent. It’s one hell of a category error.

The overall conclusion I am drawing from the replies is that we need Lifelong Learning and funding for adult education. Learning shouldn't stop at 16 or 18. All of which opportunities have diminished over the last 30 years.

Poverty is deepening. 🔎 Our #UKPoverty2026 report was launched this morning. People in very deep poverty now make up the biggest group of people in poverty, at 6.8 million people. This is unacceptable for the fifth richest country in the world, and it has consequences.

This means that almost half of everyone in poverty in the UK has less than 40% of the median income adjusted for their household type - the highest since records began. 📢 We found that Britain's poorest people are getting poorer. And poverty is hardening, not easing.
