I swore my oath on a Tanakh, and while Parliament has got a pretty wide range of available options (I'd love to know why the Zohar is one of them?) you can also request any other holy book, bring your own, or indeed not swear an oath on anything at all and make an affirmation instead. Today, the government has announced it is bringing in statutory bereavement leave for pre-24 week pregnancy loss from next April. This will make a huge difference to women and their partners who experience the pain of losing a pregnancy - and finally recognise it as the bereavement that it is.

Six months on from this speech, today the Prime Minister has announced the introduction of specialist rape and sexual offence courts in every Crown Court. I can't tell you how much this change means, nor the difference these measures would have made for me and so many survivors I've worked with.

What on earth is happening?

This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.

We always had the news on at home when I was a kid, so I vividly remember coverage of the wars following the breakup of Yugoslavia, particularly in Bosnia and Kosovo. First thing that was a single 'event' as such was probably Princess Diana's death.

Really sad to hear of the death of Dolly Parton. As well as being a musical icon, she was a champion of literacy with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library gifting over 7 million books to children in the UK since its launch in 2008. May her memory forever be a blessing.

Thank you to Warrington Power Sports Club for inviting me down to join a session of power hockey at Padgate Academy tonight - I had a blast! Really encouraging to see a greater variety of disability sport becoming available locally so everyone can find something they can participate in and enjoy.
