The Great American State Fair is about to have the exact same lineup as my local county fair in 2019 (it was just Brett Michaels)

My baby boy will be 15 in a couple of months. He’s as happy and spry as ever, but a little cloudier in the eyes and grayer in the face.

just became aware of this--the regime wants to clear-cut massive chunks of Oregon's old growth forests in the name of timber production. you have until March 23rd to comment. i know we have endless fucking things to scream at politicians about--this is an important one too.

I don’t think a question has led to more unpredictable results than when someone asks a dev what game they work on 😭

My dentist asked me what I’m working on and he seemed genuinely excited so I said “Mortal Kombat” and his reply was “hmm, I guess I don’t know that one” 😭😭😭

I worked very hard on this so I'm going to be very annoying about it for a while ;w; I don't often have personal work to show!

My (non animator) husband: this looks great! I wish it were longer though… Me: it’s FOUR WHOLE SECONDS!!!

Also which one haven’t you seen because if it’s Oni, you better get on it

000

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 10/12/2025

That’s true, I would say KPop veers into universal territory with the plot. When I use “personal” I also mean, like, I can watch it and immediately grok the storyteller’s tastes/hobbies/influences. Sometimes you watch a movie and know EXACTLY what the creator’s YouTube algorithm would be, lol

000

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 09/12/2025

At least for me, I tend to respond less to stories that set out to be universal and more to stories that feel so achingly personal. Those are the ones that remind me of what we all have in common.

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 09/12/2025

Apropos of nothing, some of my favorite animated stories (out of the US) came out of the last 5 years. The thing they have in common is that they’re so deeply personal, I can feel the storyteller in every choice. They’re stories that made me go “who is this even made for?!” but in the best way.

Just know that we have two cats- brother and sister that were referred to as “the twins” of their litter- and the sister is off being a goblin somewhere, as is her MO

That’s the way to do it! I always give up because I hate being on the phone 😭😭😭

000

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025

But also also, my SiL has a terrible time with delayed flights and lost bags once, and she harangued the airline into giving her a $100 voucher for a future flight. So… be the squeaky wheel if you can stomach it 😅

010

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025

So all that to say fingers crossed they’ll find it! When bags get lost it’s always in the restricted parts of an airport so that helps too. The fact that you can’t get a hold of a person (or a person who cares) is so shitty tho, wtffff

210

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025

Ahh, that’s so frustrating! I’ve been in that situation, where my bag got lost in transit somewhere between Tokyo and Savannah. It always took a couple days but they did end up finding it! It happened to my international friends all the time too, we joked that they were the worst delivery service.

100

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 03/12/2025

That’s terrible! I’ve had similar things happen when I flew back and forth from Japan to SCAD. There used to be a way to leave the airline the address you wanted them to mail your suitcase to. Was that not an option? Sorry if this is an obvious question!

100

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 02/12/2025

Altho let’s be real this problem predates AI: companies are out there eliminating hundreds of jobs in one fell swoop for “cost reasons” meanwhile CEOs are making millions, if not billions, and the government is acting like the most vulnerable people just need to job hunt a bit harder

020

Sara Talmadge @charapoo.bsky.social · 02/12/2025

Pretty grotesque how lawmakers are pushing for stricter work requirements for food/medical assistance while private industries are going all in on AI to eliminate the need for human workers

This is wild. When I worked at Disney Interactive ages ago, we would get pushback from branding on the tiniest things because they were so protective of how Mickey & co. moves, looks, and behaves. Any animation I produced went through *several* iteration passes. Is that even possible with GenAI??
