Great to see digital humanists (not a job description with wide public exposure) credited, instead of another article that says 'scientists have [done this thing]'.

Could it be Hodnett, English Woodcuts 1480-1535 (1935; repr. 1973)?

Not I think a ballad, at least not one I've seen, and unfortunately our visual search engine's offline at the moment. I'll give it a go once it's back up. It's great, though!

Hello Bluesky, in September I'll be out of contract and would be grateful to hear of any potential teaching (early modern lit) or research (with archives, rare books, humanities data) work. I'm based in SW England. Thank you!

Albeit this is on the basis of the public records in SOLO: I know the Bodleian has a lot of provenance information held elsewhere

The National Endowment for the Humanities is an essential force for good. Rare Book School affirms the vital importance of @nehgov.bsky.social in supporting programs and grants that enrich the cultural understandings of our citizens, our communities, and our nation.
A close-up photo of a person’s hands paging through an old book. Several slips of paper are tucked at intervals into the pages. Overlaid on top of this is a block of white text on a dark red background, which reads, “The NEH is an essential force for good, helping individuals and communities understand our past, engage the present, and provide a vision for a better tomorrow.  RBS affirms the vital importance of the NEH in supporting programs and grants that enrich the cultural understandings of our citizens, our communities, and our nation.”

it would be better if they'd considered taking over the old Debenhams or one of the corner locations on Carfax. More passing trade from tourists and more of a boost to the rest of the city centre.

Truth about IA and metadata. One obstacle to that reconciliation is that it was never entirely clear which copy (or copies in some cases) was filmed. It would be a nice job of work to match them up again. It's harder still with EEBO image sets, so maybe we can get it right this time..

Giles Bergel @chapbookpro.bsky.social · 09/01/2025
Fantastic that they did this, but the metadata does have some problems. Perhaps a reconciliation with ESTC is in order.
