What makes healthcare so special that it is exempt from OH&S requirements to wear respiratory protection? Triage for a start has no freaking idea what the pathogen is, let alone the risks involved… ED doesn’t either for the most part… and things crop up on the wards… Why is healthcare exempt?

Today the Premier revealed his environmental platform: re-announcing a marine plan signed two years ago, a land target from 2023 and a data centre power cap that’s already in force. What he didn’t say, is that his own government admits B.C. will miss its climate targets.

Gendered violence starts in schools where unequal gender advancement is easily visible in the leadership. It starts where women teachers carry unequal labour related to providing 'safety' or 'care' because of gendered stereotypes about women as nurturers.

I keep hearing that being concerned about Covid, or that being concerned about AI, is really just a sign of “a moral panic,” but based on the state of the world these days it seems immoral not to be at least a little panicked. * Plague poems week 343: librarianshipwreck.wordpress.com/2026/10/09/p...

I truly feel we are doomed as a species. I learned yesterday that MIT released a study saying that to create a 5 sec video in AI in consumes the energy of having your microwave on for 1 hr. Cat videos will kill us & eventually the energy costs will be passed to the end user and bankrupt us.

Report: Creating a 5-second AI video is like running a microwave for an hour
We know that AI tools like ChatGPT consume significant energy, and a new report from the MIT Technology Reviews shows exactly how much.

kbarton1001
On my first big overseas client conference, I was at a dinner seated next to a drunk client who kept trying to fondle me under the table. I was young, distressed, and had no idea what to do. I moved my legs as far away from him as I could, moving into the space of the man next to me, who then started patting my legs! The Regional Manager was a French woman who caught my eye, gestured for me to go to the bathroom and when I came back had switched chairs with me. What happed next was epic. A few minutes after I sat back down, she raised her hand with his hand captured in hers and announced loudly "Does anyone know whose hand this is? I found it in my lap." There was dead silence at the table. She threw his hand back at him and said calmly "next time I pick it up with my fork." Then she started a new conversational thread and things moved on. After the meeting she found me, gave me a hug, and said seriously "Never be afraid to make some noise. It is their shame, not yours."

"Why the CDC edited a key Covid metric, and what it says about the state of the virus" The CDC raised its COVID wastewater benchmarks, so levels once considered “high” may now be labelled “moderate.” The agency says the change is intended to better reflect the current risk of COVID transmission.🤦‍♂️
A screenshot of an article preview from NBC News featuring a United States map tracking "Covid viral levels."
The map color-codes states to show differing ranges of viral activity, using shades of orange (with Texas, California, Florida, and Washington showing deeper orange hues), light peach for lower levels, grey for unavailable data, and diagonal grey stripes over several states.
At the bottom, a dark grey text overlay reads: "Why the CDC edited a key Covid metric, and what it says about the state of the virus." Small grey attribution text below the main card indicates the source is from nbcnews.com.
