Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 19hSocial media accounts that auto-follow based on keywords are the worst. Last night I did an anxiety-led post talking about some albums I love to try and avoid spiralling into gloom over the whole A I music thing, and today I wake up to find several A I music accounts following me. Easy blocks. 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 01/10/2026It's been a bleh day for my anxieties but its now October and officially the start of "sitting inside with a jumper and mug of hot something looking out at the rain" season. To counter the AI music discourse I'm gonna post some autumnal or spooky albums I like... 100
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 30/09/2026It's always great to table at Thought Bubble (C40 Bubble Boy, bring money), but the curse is that I've never actually been to any of the workshops or talks! Look at this stuff, incredible. 010
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I can't be the only person who sees YouTube videos from the 2010s and gets slightly emotional because they're pre AI human craft? I'm here watching random anime openings to forgotten shows with names like"Help! I'm in Love with my Mecha Building Senpai". A single tear running down my cheek. 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I can't believe a company named after Saruman's orb would do something like this. Disappointed tbh, they've lost a customer. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and encouraging all my friends in the despotic tyrant facebook group to do the same. 022
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The tragedy of discovering the Uncanny podcast quite late and having so many THEORIES about episodes that are several months or years old. 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Anyone else just get a sponsored message on WhatsApp? And follow up question, which message app are we all gonna switch to when it becomes 50% adverts like every other Meta thing? 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Resident Evil was a lot of fun! Great to watch with a big audience (one moment in the film even got a spontaneous round of applause!) The Evil Dead comparisons are appropriate - it's less schlocky and slapstick, but just as chaotic and entertaining. 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I've avoided this so far by turning kids in to nemeses instead of fans. So every time I meet one I've met before I get a Shadow of Mordor style cut-scene where they shout: "Oi, there's that artist what did that bad drawing in my signature book!" It's been very helpful if a little terrifying. 011

Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I made the mistake of scrolling left on my Google phone and was greeted with this AI summary of a news article. The band Muse is completely unrelated to the story, of course. This is the technology they've been ramping up the Skynet rhetoric about this month. 100
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Okay rule of three, now do an evil bastard just so we don't completely lose hope. 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I WISH it was something with more street cred but it was this. I was nine, I didn't even like them that much but my friend did and I wanted to look cool. My mum, who had spent years getting me to listen to Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac was probably devastated when I pointed this out in Woolworths. 100
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Hey guys, it's okay we labelled the shit so you can eat around it. There are no other games available where you drive cars so I'm sure this will be fine for us. 000

Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 14/08/2026My phone just made a really really really loud alarm to tell me not to use disposable bbqs in dry forest areas. I mean... Good... Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Kingdom Hearts. I love Disney animation, I love Final Fantasy. So it seemed on paper to be the ideal pitch. But I HATE crossover media. You compromise the integrity and tone of both things for a weird theme park discord. The only ones I ever enjoyed were the Judge Dredd Alien comics. 100
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 12/08/2026I feel like my emotional response to the eclipse will fully tilt me into either Astronomy or Astrology and I'm scared for my financial future in either case. Telescopes are expensive. Crystals are expensive. I can't win. 100
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Some of the food in these posters has put me off eating entirely. It all has the colour palette of tobacco stained 70s wallpaper and the texture of the inside of a composting bin. 010
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Backed! Get yourself a bunch of weird and wonderful comics. 021
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I did some culture. Mahler's 1st. All new to me but I enjoyed it a lot! 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 27/07/2026The modern world is just a gaudy casino everywhere you turn isn't it? 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Thought The Odyssey was incredible. It was so wonderful to enjoy the slight of hand of special effects again. I also enjoyed the reframing of such an old story to give it a potent new weight in the world we live in today. It's not subtle, but it weaves an apparent magic of its own. 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Seeing System of a Down live was incredible. But a hundred of us piling into a nearby pub afterwards where we sang nu metal into the night was legendary. Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff... I understand it now. It's best shared with friends. 010
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Obviously it's hard to overstate just how great Sam Neill was. His performance in Hunt For The Wilderpeople is one of my favourites and if you've not had a chance to see it you should take time this week. You won't regret it. 010
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Thanks Jacqui, for this amazing review! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book so much! 122
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 02/07/2026I have a bit of a quirk where I struggle to register big milestones and events in my life. It still hasn't quite sunk in that between The Phoenix and this I'm doing my dream job, but seeing this in the biggest book store in Europe did feel really really cool. I drew these dorks! 031
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 01/07/2026Huge news I'm still sort of processing as someone new to the kidlit world. But @waterstones.bsky.social have announced Star Breakers (a book what I drew) is their Children's Book of the Month for July! 4195
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Enjoyed Supergirl. Imo it could have been a bit longer to expand on some of the emotional beats and a few more moments to soar. I also could have done with the planet locations being a bit more weird and alien. Both Milly Alcock and Eve Ridley were great together! Lobo was fun but kinda aimless. 010
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Me, some years ago aghast at Taylor Swift fans paying over £200 for a ticket: "Hah! Could never be me. I only listen to off-putting musicians that charge 40 quid!" Me today, booking Muse tickets with my brother: "Well, if we're spending £150 we may as well pay £200 for better seats." 100

Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I feel kinda weird about OOT remake. It's a game I love utterly and I've played about a dozen times, but I'd be more excited for an original Zelda game with a similar vibe. A spooky and goofy dark fairy tale full of weirdos and mystery. The Switch 2 remains un-purchased. 110
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 06/06/2026Ten years of these action RPGs where you're a hot guy/girl with a silly weapon in a fallen/falling fantasy world where everything is big and you must dodge backwards a lot. Kinda blurring into one. #sgf 000
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 06/06/2026I'm sure people worked very hard on it, but when are they going to stop making Gundam games that completely miss what makes Gundam actually interesting? That is the extreme underlying romantic tension between two rival pilots! 100
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 04/06/2026Awful news. Persepolis is a comic that broadens the heart and more people should read it or watch the animated adaptation. 010
Reposted by Chris HazeldineKieron Gillen @kierongillen.bsky.social · 28/05/2026The animation chat has me thinking one telling thing - in the years since AI arrived, there's not been a ground-up indie phenomenon, like we saw with earlier tech (Flash, etc). It hasn't unlocked anyone's creativity. For all the anti-gatekeeping rhetroic, nothing anyone cares about has been born. 7051891402
Chris Hazeldine @ch-art.bsky.social · 28/05/2026In a bizzaro world where I *was* happy to watch AI slop animation - surely I wouldn't bother getting Amazon or whoever to be my middleman and just go and prompt my own? Same for AI novels, AI art, AI music. Why should I care what someone else generates when I could just use the AI myself? 100
