I started playing silver-flute 3 days ago. Very different/harder than recordian I used to play. Have no teacher so listened to tutorials on the tube. Lots about posture. Today I played my first full scale, figuring out 2nd octave, but i found 3rd too!! Got nobody to celebrate with, so 🎉 pls. #music

Hello lovelies, happy Tuesday! ❤️ I'm on my read-through for book 1, so ofc I basically rewrote most of chapter 1... But, now when I read that through again... I get REALLY suspicious when my brain has no complaints throughout a paragraph. Is that normal? 😵‍💫 #writingCommunity #writerSky

All right. So, what do you call the entrance/lowest-floor of an apartment building? Say one with three storeys, no basement? Bottom floor? First floor? I kind of used both, but want a word Most will associate with the ground-floor. #writerSky #amWriting #authors

Hello lovelies! I just wanted to tell you I haven't left, I don't ignore you! I just have serious troubles with my eyes + trouble reading/writing. I hope to get better. I can never be well, but I like my measly 5-8%, which I barely have right now. Thinking of you, guys! ❤️ #writingcommunity

I get a weekly mail with (sometimes) writing-advice. Some weeks I read them, some not. The reason for this is because I tend to take said advice as critique on my own writing. A sharp poke saying I write 'the wrong way'. I know it is not. The one/s... 🧵 #writingcommunity #amwriting #writersky

What do one do, about that feeling of failure? When you wonder if what you try to write is worth all that? I still believe in my books, since I read them through more times than I can count and still curiously turn the pages. But what if it is just me? #AuthorSky #amWriting #feelingAlone

#amwriting #editorialPains After about 300 read-throughs (No, seriously! At least 72!), edits and revisions, I just spotted a(nother) plot-hole in ch.2 while reading through chapter 1. It is now fixed, to the delight of mc's best ftiend and great irritation of the mc, BWAHAHAHA! #writingcommunity

#amwriting #writingCommunity Ok, so... today's quedtion: Can one use 'Blessed be' as eqvivalent to 'Praise the gods' or even 'Horrah!'? I got the sentence, 'Blessed be, the gods smiled at him this night!' Which might sound odd out of context... Does it feel weird? Thoughts? Suggestions?

#amwriting Could someone tell me the right phrasing? '...was a privilege for the noble classes to...' '...was a privilege of the noble classes to...' The privilege here being to send for a certain something, which the less fortunate classes were not allowed.🤗 #writingCommunity #writers

I'm sketching my book-cover. It's an ongoing project last 2 yrs since I pick it up when my eyes are too poo for text-work, but not totally broken. The other day I had the bright idea to add a city crest resulting in me entering a 1 week heraldry rabbithole. Is it just me? #writingcommunity #authors

Revising/editing status of today: Attempted to cut down on words in chapter 2. After much work and nearly at the end... +12 words! (It was more but succeeded to crop around 20) Mind you, the text flows beautifully now, but it's not Shorter... Is it just me? #WritingCommunity #amwriting

As for me. None really. Generally they tend to get fleshed out, refined, cut down, added to, tweaked and shuffled etc. Though, even chopped off bits get reused elsewhere. ^_^ Iy's still in there, though.

#amwriting #writingcommunity I ask, in case I'm slowly being sucked into my own universe... 2 years ago I wrote 1 Merfolk scene where mmc has just seen the lady he wish to bond with and exclaims this to his cousin. Now this expression sneak in whenever Merfolk hint of love 🤔 Anyone else get this?

All right, let's do this, #WritingCommunity! Next Saturday (Feb 8), I'm hosting #CritPit, an event for #writers to find critique partners and alpha/beta readers. The event is open to all writers! Please share widely!
#CritPit
What is it? A bsky event to help writers find new alpha readers, beta readers, and/or critique partners!
When is it happening? 8 February 2025. No time zone restrictions. As long as it’s Feb 8 somewhere, #CritPit is happening!
Who can participate? All writers who have something for which they’d like to find a reader/partner! This includes novels, novellas, short stories, etc.How to participate
1. Create a short (single post-length) pitch to describe your work. Your pitch doesn’t need to be perfect, but it should tell people what your writing is about!

2. Post up to 3 works, 1 post per work

3. Include the #CritPit hashtag!

4. To help people find you, include an age category tag and at least 1 genre tag (see bit.ly/CritPit for a list of tags)

5. If a pitch interests you, leave a comment to let the writer know!FAQ
Am I allowed to like pitches? Yes! Anyone can like, comment, and/or repost! Go wild!
Are agents/editors participating? This is NOT an event for pitching to agents/editors. This is for writers to find other writers. Agents/editors who are also writers may participate, but do so as writers only.
Can I include a moodboard/graphic? Do I HAVE to include a moodboard/graphic? Graphics (moodboards, “a guide to,” etc.) are not required but they are allowed. Do include alt text for all images. Do not use AI-generated content.Finding a match
You do not have to work with everyone to comments/volunteers as a reader!
Recommended first steps for a potential match:
1. Discuss whether you’ll be swapping (reading for each other) or just 1 person will read for the other.
2. Share a slightly longer blurb + any content/trigger warnings.
3. Share a sample (like first 1-2 chapters) so you can see if you vibe (reader is interested/engaged & writer feels the feedback style of the reader works for them).
4. Always notify someone if you don’t think you’ll be a good fit, can’t make the time commitment, or can’t finish once you start.

Some months ago I read a tweet where a writer said they had basically changed one word, moved a comma and felt absolutely awesome. I giggled at the time. Now, I'm exchanging one word for another, switch places of two sentences, move a comma... and feel absolutely awesome XD #amWriting #editing

Is there a word? Ok, so I'm looking for a word to explain a gesture. The gesture I think of is that a waiter uses to show your table, or a nobleman that presents someone to a friend... usually open hand, palm up. Like indicating/showing something. But, is there a word for it? #WritingCommunity

Editing advice? I'm trying to find a way to indicate an abrup halt to an inner monologue or thought. Google refuse to show any options but em-dash and although I can see the benefit of that in a spoken dialogue, it looks weird as the end of an unquoted sentence.🧵

This might sound weird, but I'd either locate the goblins, since they have the strongest magic second only to dragons or demons, and ask for a major heal/regen spell. Or, chase down a vampire and try to grt turned - since they can regenerate rather well. THEN I'd go party!!

Hi! I'm Celia Roan. I am trying to finish my fantasy romance/mystery duology with regency vibes, set in a changed world, among vampires, merfolk, elves, goblins and all things mythical or folkloric!
Moodboard depicting a dark misry city, regency balls, two moons, a sniling vampire and the text 'Bloodbound, part one, When you make a wish, you better be sure who's listening....A moodboard depicting a dark misty old victorian city, a gothic bedchamber, a wineglass containing something red, a wet cobbled street, lurching possibly zombified humans with glowing eyes. Text says 'Bloodbound, part 2, His cousin is in danger, beasts eat their humans, Someone is to blame... ...and then there is Her...'
