Fundamentally, we’re talking about here is a policy question. I believe in democracy, which means every citizen affected gets to weigh in, even if their lexicon is imperfect. If you prefer another system, say so. If not, get off that high horse.

My childhood neighborhood worked in IT for one of the federal alphabet agencies and his hobby was building computers. He'd open his garage and teach us kids how to build our own computers & how to code. Fast forward to HS/college, I learned HTML to make websites, and joined chats with my friends.

I criticized decisions that impact policy. If the Dems can’t keep members from defecting to vote for extremist nominees, why would voters trust them with power? (I also hold the GOP responsible for their actions, but as I said, they lead with wanting to kill my friends, so low expectations.)
