I’m happy to have an orange cat that fits the stereotype. But my goodness, Domi has some unhinged moments when he doesn’t know what to do with all his big feelings and energy. Little dude has been streaking through my flat like a maniac, knocking things over, chasing his toys, and playing with Burt.

Yeah, but that field should not even be there! 😭 It’s so weird. A lot of people are still doing it and a lot of companies still expect if unfortunately.

Anthropic banning “abusive or cruel behavior” toward Claude in its new usage policies is proof to me that tech companies are going to moderate violence against AI before they ever moderate violence against women and minorities

This week in Germany: → Tesla raising production pay 5%, hiring 3,500 more in Grünheide → Germany is the only big economy where pay beats inflation through 2027 → Renewables hit a record 60.7% of power use → 200 choirs sang 125 hours straight in Wedding

A new study scored 266 German jobs by how much of them AI could already do. Telekom's €2.5 billion savings plan could cost 25,000 roles by one estimate. Meanwhile nobody can actually define what "AI skills" means, not even the companies asking for them.

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

Putting an honest and sincere request out to the German connections I have here. In a few months, I’ll be unemployed. So, I’m very proactively searching for product owner/manager positions, transformation and strategy roles, agile consulting, delivery lead roles.

Using AI in Your Job Search Without Erasing Yourself
AI helped me improve my CV and stop underselling myself. But how much AI is too much? Thoughts on job searching, confidence, and staying authentic.

Cheryl Howard @cdngrrleh.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
That turned a CV exercise into something far more personal. Why have I been so reluctant to say I'm good at what I do? But AI can make you sound impressive on paper, and then a real human has to show up and speak to every word of it. I want AI to help me, not replace me.

Something unexpected happened when I started using AI in my job search. Talking out loud to an LLM about jobs I had years ago, I started remembering projects and problems I'd solved. Most of it was already on my CV, but I'd made all of it much smaller than it actually was.

Berliners voted in 2021 to take flats off big landlords. A commission found it legal in 2023. And the party that just won the Berlin election says it'll actually do it. Now Merz is fast-tracking a national ban to stop it. The thing Berliners voted for, blocked before it can happen.

Berlin votes this Sunday, and roughly one in four of us who live here don't get a say in it. The city has 800,000+ foreign residents, 22.5% of the population, shut out of the state election no matter how long they've lived here or how much tax they've paid.

Germany's 2027 tax reform has a shiny headline: higher tax-free allowance, bigger lump sum, more Kindergeld. The catch? It does nothing about cold progression, where your inflation-matching raise still bumps you into a higher bracket. An expert told ZDF the gains could vanish before they reach you.

“The logical response to material deprivation is to hate ethnic and sexual minorities“ - no, it’s not, it’s a choice! And to call it bigotry is not “name-calling”. It’s factual. These voters have agency. Let’s not patronise them by claiming that they don’t.

We can’t jump to immediate conclusions that it was Russia. A far left wing group was responsible for a days long blackout in Berlin last January. This would be an opportune time for them to jump on that bandwagon again. We just need to wait for official reports and not assume.
