i feel like we just need to admit to a lot of young people that our systems completely failed them. we let digital tools in the classroom and social media algorithms use them like lab rats and now half of them cannot have a basic, polite human interaction.

I heard somewhere that Berlin is one of the more affordable metropolitan areas in Europe, and that would track with my experience there as opposed to other major cities (Paris, London, Dublin, Zurich, Amsterdam). Wonderful city, I miss it dearly.

Want to know the trick to finding the closest, most affordable (free) parking in Minneapolis? Ride a bike (or scooter). Today I parked just steps from the front door for all of my errands: dentist, grocery store, bank & picking snacks up from a friend.

I think a lot of people may unintentionally subscribe to the idea of "amusement park cities" where major cities and neighborhoods exist to entertain people who don't live in the area, rather than cater to their actual residents. Not that it excuses their behavior.

Today Microsoft moved all its GitHub copilot subscribers to token-based billing. If you want to see what happens when people have to pay the actual costs of AI, the day is finally here. It's obvious that every customer sees the deep, meaningful value and isn't angry at all.

Just one prompt and I got 50% of my whole month credits using Claude Sonnet 4.6.

This is hilarious. For context I used the Copilot Orchestrator that has Condutor, Planning, Implementator and Code review agents. But with the new "usage based pricing", seems like this is not an ideal setup anymore?
Anyone has the same experience here? I am on Copilot Prot. This is so expensive.

Love the new Copilot token system

Last month I used ~60% of my quota in an entire month.
This month I've already used 25% on day one.
What an amazing improvement.

First day of the new pricing model, I tried one prompt to just refine one of my existing change proposal, basically a conductor with few sub agents to update the existing change spec, architecture, test plan, prototype, tech spec and implementation plan.
About 20-30 mins task, ends up burning 16% of my monthly credits in one shot.
Bye.

It's too expensive for me. In just one day, I used 4,000/20,000 credits, which means I would end up paying $600 a month.

I studied abroad in Scotland in 2016, and I never opened a local bank account. I used my own credit card for most things and only withdrew cash if I really needed it. Granted, I was living in university housing so my tuition paid for that piece. You can use most ATMs to withdraw from U.S. accounts.

Krita and Clip Studio are the best replacements I know of on desktop. Procreate is pretty solid on iPad if that's your thing. GIMP is similar to Photoshop but maybe not as good for drawing. Blender is solid for mixed media and animation.
