Des premières contestations de la fin du XVIIIe siècle au couronnement de Napoléon Bonaparte, l’histoire de la Révolution française est une fresque qu’il est parfois difficile de saisir, tant ces quelques années ont concentré des bouleversements intenses.

Cette histoire de la Révolution entend livrer un récit accessible en redonnant la parole aux Françaises et aux Français qui ont fait et vécu cet évènement majeur. En croisant approches chronologique et thématique, cet ouvrage se propose de décrypter les grands enjeux de la période (économie, politique, femmes, colonies, etc.) et de tordre le cou à certaines idées reçues.
