Wikipedia says the region encompasses pretty much everything en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upstate... Upstate includes the middle and upper Hudson Valley, the Capital District, the Mohawk Valley region, Central New York, the Southern Tier, the Finger Lakes region, Western New York, and the North Country

Oh interesting! I guess i always assumed anti-Upstate sentiment was just being annoyed about NYCers being annoying (which Im sure is a part of it) but between you and Justin it sounds like it's more because it's just factually incorrect from where you live. Makes a lot of sense!!

I dont agree with "everything not NYC" is Upstate but I've always thought Catskills/Hudson Valley as Upstate was relatively uncontroversial - legit curious about the Adirondacker perspective

I firmly believe Phish is at their best when they have a theme to work towards. It doesn't even need to be an overt theme that any of us in the crowd are even aware of, but those guys need something to direct all that energy towards and when they do we fucking liftoff

I keep thinking how, despite being a 40+ year old band, Phish keeps doing incredible new, creative things and has roundly beaten the nostalgia act allegations. But this run, the new, creative thing they did was actually to dip into nostalgia pretty directly, and it was such a treat!!
