I think this is because public perception of "Science" has been hyperfocused into "Tech." "Tech" is everywhere, so it seems less personal, less private. Also in real life, so many folks in Tech seem to hate other sciences & cast doubt on their viability. As if we got Tech w/o the others!

Okay so hidden in youtube’s update to allow for direct messaging is that it now tells people which account you’re using when you link them a youtube video. So vtuber friends who also have a regular-ass youtube account, head into your privacy settings and disable “channel visibility for shared links”
