I’m a compulsive list maker and I use AI at work and at home (genealogical research aid) but I don’t see where agents will help. As noted here and down thread, lists don’t capture routine tasks. And maybe we want to organize things ourselves?

Ignaz Semmelweis and Joseph Lister changed medical practice by washing and sterilizing hands and instruments before surgery and reducing the spread of infections. Jay Bhattacharya advocated for the spread of infection.

Russell Vought wants to be in charge of #ScienceDeathPanels at NIH. Congress has made it pretty clear they don’t want political appointees in charge of funding decisions. Science community: it’s time to get loud (again)! www.politico.com/news/2026/09...

Yep; the best framings of it I’ve seen have treated MAHA as a hostile wellness-industry takeover of the health sector. Any strategic response that fails to take on wellness firms’ economic power will founder.

Two of the world’s most extreme & dangerous anti-vaxx activists & grifters—Andrew Wakefield and RFK Jr—headlining a conference held by the extraordinarily damaging anti-vaxx group Children’s Health Defense in the midst of the worst measles outbreak in 35 yrs tells you all you need to know about MAHA

And now they have the power and will use it to reduce vaccine uptake. This also is the foundation of the MAHA movement - that physicians and scudbtusss do not have the public’s interest at heart.

It’s worth going to the Substack article that was the basis of this post. Science leadership is being given over to science contrarians whose language, seemingly logical and appealing to our better natures, hides the long-standing attacks on science.

After I wrote last week's column, I learnt that a neighbour with severe disabilities, an extremely tough & resourceful woman who lived to the full, died in the heatwave. Everyone here is devastated. I can scarcely express my anger towards a mindset that treats people like her as collateral damage. 🧵

One of the hallmarks of this administration is its inability to face scrutiny. It brands any examination of racial or economic contributions to unequal outcomes as “woke” that cannot inform policy and any questioning as a affront. Plus, Jenna is a badass, but for good. ❤️‍🔥

I do genealogy research on my own family and can see this in the pre-WWII records. An aunt who died at 36 within a month of a child’s death at birth, a census record where a great grandmother noted that 3 of 6 children born are still alive… the list goes on.

The bottom line is that the forces of white supremacy cannot abide a multiracial country with equal rights for all. We are a nation bound by ideals, not a “blood and soul” country led by a “in” group. Not perfect, but we can hope and strive.

It is interesting how much more coverage this editorial, and the politicization of biomedical research, got as a result of the ADA’s initial actions. If the organization, and the AMA, want to join the fight there’s plenty of room for them.
