I found watching Trump’s UN speech today deeply depressing. It is a matter of national shame and humiliation that he is our president. Every country in the world, friend and foe alike, sees we are governed by a vainglorious fool.

"Trump says" = 🚩🚩🚩 You are supposed to be journalists, not PR flunkies. If you're publishing an article and the headline includes "Trump says", you should be able to recognize that as a red flag that you are helping to spread lies and misinformation. Stop normalizing his behavior. Do better.

Once again, there's a reason they won't spell out how we'd go extinct. Are we getting Jurassic Park'd because the AI is reinventing dinosaurs? Are they getting access to the nuclear codes and hypnotizing the president into using them? They are referring to bank/infrastructure hacks and exaggerating.

The authors of this article consider themselves to be journalists, correct? Assuming that is true, how is it that this article never acknowledges that Trump's offer is an illegal lie? Is this a case of simple incompetency? Or is this a willful action where they chose to purvey misinformation? 🤨

I'm always reminded of Kurt Vonnegut's comments on this, too...
Image of Kurt Vonnegut with a quote of his: "For some reason, the most vocal Christians among us never mention the Beatitudes (Matthew 5). But, often with tears in their eyes, they demand that the Ten Commandments be posted in public buildings. And of course, that's Moses, not Jesus. I haven't heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the beatitudes, be posted anywhere. 'Blessed are the merciful' in a courtroom? 'Blessed are the peacemakers' in the Pentagon? Give me a break!"

In my experience (a previous employer was purchased by Apollo), they are the worst sort of private equity. Over ~5 years, I watched (from the inside) a ~40 year old company get saddled with debt, lay off half the employees (thousands of people), then be chopped up and sold off in pieces.
