Best practice IMO is to not worry from the get go about saying specific things (unless it’s a lyric you got already bc it’s got a good flow when u say it) or telling a specific story. Explore the music first and eventually the song will tell you what it’s about.

Usually I’ll listen/play thru chords singing “dadadas”, sounds to melodies a few times. Then gradually words & phrases come to mind that fill the sounds/meter/emphasis of the dadada stuff, then I tweak lines to make meter more consistent or punch dif beats. Then i might find out what it’s about.

i think the best way i put it is if i compare things abt myself to other ppl, i often see the differences as jackal-like traits. small. resourceful scavengers as opposed to aggressive hunters. more independent as opposed to pack bonded this animal feels like a good symbol for my life experience.

i had to process death & grief very young. got into historical burial & memorial practices, thought Anubis was cool. also, i'm 5'2, spindly, would spook my family being so quiet when i'd walk around. Jackals are small and sneaky. both the mythology & shape of this animal were relatable to me.

I'd argue that, for the metrics, it's vastly MORE important that viewers turn this off. There's more viewers than streamers, so even if every streamer turned this off, if viewers don't, the executives can still claim that "most users don't care" and cram it down our throats even harder. Opt out.
