I'm resting after spreading a bunch of wood chips where we needed a better pathway. I've got sourdough that's refusing to really rise much, probably because it's a little too cold in here, and dinner to get started. It's not going to be fancy, but hopefully it'll taste good. #HomesteadLife

I'm rather proud of my disabled self today. I managed a shower, a trip to the grocery store for a few things (the prices are insane!), and I made dinner (though my husband helped a bit). Just waiting for it now... I hurt so bad, but it was worth it all just to feel a bit normal for once. #Disabled

I haven't felt like coming up with my own design in ages until I saw this Cautiva yarn from Spain in the yarn shop by my daughter's home. Hopefully, these mitts will turn out okay. #knitting Thankfully, I have a copy of Ann Budd's Handy Book of Patterns. It's the best! Worth every penny.
On top of my lap covered by a pink and blue afghan I got at an estate sale for a pittance (shame, for the crocheter did an amazing job), my graph paper, black Moleskine, and knitting on top of that.

The graph paper has writing on it and then a graph of a duck on top of waves. The knitting is dark and light teal with the dark teal ribbing and then a dark teal, light teal Latvian braid on white Bryspun dpns.

I have had a modular sweater pattern I've wanted to make for awhile now, and I thought I had enough yarn in the stash for it (Mission Falls 1824 I got on FB Marketplace a year ago or so), but after doing all the math tonight, I don't. So...I was bad and ordered yarn. 🤭 #knitting #DeMinimus

Pain's still bad, but I managed to scrub the toilet and get the laundry started outside. Thank goodness for the portable washing machines! One has a broken spinner, so I'm down to one spinner, but they work quite well, better than the laundromat in town, that's for sure. Now I wait for that to soak

We think of the White House as a big mansion, but the point is it's not a palace. It's a house. It's modest, one of the smallest residences for a head of state. The east and west wings are deliberately minimal and unobtrusive. It's not Versailles or Buckingham. It symbolizes civic republicanism.

July was a rough month here on the new homestead. Much of the garden is dead, and I've been so frustrated. We finally did the annual jarred food count, and we have more than I'd thought, but I also see where I have to can up more, especially meat and some veggies. I hope I'm able to.

So ... I crashed too hard to make the pork loin and roasted veggies dinner I'd planned. We had leftover cooked pasta in the fridge, so baked pasta (pseudo lasagna) it was. Much easier for me to put together. My husband managed to get it in the oven along with garlic toast, so the team effort worked

Welp, we are over a week into Tour de Fleece, and I'm finally spinning. my husband's rearranging of things in the camper last night made it so my e-spinner is easier to get to. Then he helped me fix it. I'm still working through this dark green, sort of neppy, Polwarth from a small farm in SW MI.
