Congress directed USDA to issue regulations to strengthen the security of EBT cards, but the Trump administration pushed back the expected timeline from March 2025 to January 2026, then to "by September 30, 2026." (They did not issue those regulations by September 30, 2026.)

Canada's revenue as a share of the economy is about 9 percentage points higher than the U.S. ~5 percentage points of the discrepancy is higher individual and corporate income taxes and ~3 percentage points is higher taxes on goods and services (i.e. VATs and sales taxes).
