Watched Aliens with some friends tonight who hadn’t seen it before. It holds up beautifully.

I just love how in Mythic Bastionland all the real GM work is done before campaign start and then it’s like a chain of dominoes falling once some myths are encountered. Would love to have a structure like this for any fantasy game.

If they initiate the final showdown themselves, they get a major advantage by setting the encounter up on their own terms. If they duck around and the final event happens by default, they are severely disadvantaged.

I’m thinking 6 plots with 6 countdown events & 6 major clues each. The players can be juggling up to 3 at a time and they can skip to the final showdown event by succeeding on a solve check to connect the dots and settle on the culprit.

I would love to try to broaden the “Brindlewood” narrative framework to work for basic tropey fantasy plot reveals in a system-agnostic way. Structure it sort of like the myths and omens from Mythic Bastionland.

Beka and I got home before 1pm and she’s resting and eating well. Manageable pain, reasonable mobility. The weather is cooling off with a nice breeze and I’m taking the dog on a walk before dark. All is well.

Shortly after this post I noticed only killed the mid-biome mini boss but the actual first boss as well. Promptly died in zone two but I unlocked a TON of helpful perks as well as the assault rifle, so YAY
