Almost every woman i have ever befriended in my life has experienced some kind of sexual assault/harassment/violence, ranging from as recent to the present day or as far back as when they were still a kid. It is as bad as people say, and even worse than you believe.

As a British person who grew up reading the HP books I cannot tell you how easy it is to just stop engaging with it. Between the final film and the stage play there was literally no mainline HP content for 5 years. If you were able to handle that, you can handle taking it out of your life for good.

i think ppl would be a lot happier and better-adjusted on here if they realized that being online on a website is like being in any other casual public space full of people. if u walk into walmart u dont immediately think to yourself “i have to be friends with everyone in this walmart and if not everyone likes me i’m a failure” and u really shouldn’t feel that way online either. likewise if there’s a guy in the walmart parking lot shouting obscenities u probably wouldn’t answer him and that’s literally an exact equivalent to some of the weird stuff that people on here seem to feel they’re obligated to respond to.

I really hate the “I don’t owe anyone anything” mentality because we actually owe each other and this planet a lot. You don’t have to be selfless all the time or burn yourself out but you should be kind and helpful and compassionate to the best of your ability. We need to care about each other more
