Russian strikes on Kyiv and region kill two, including a child
Russian forces launched another barrage of missiles and drones at Kyiv and Kyiv region overnight on Wednesday, September 30. Two people were killed. The head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said the body of a child was found under the rubble of a destroyed private home in Vyshhorod. Three others—a man, a woman, and a child—were pulled out alive and are receiving medical treatment.
Tkachenko reported that several private homes in Vyshhorod district were damaged or destroyed, and fires broke out in a residential building and garages. In Bucha district, three private homes, 11 vehicles, and two warehouses were damaged, with a fire breaking out there as well. There were also reports of "infrastructure facilities affected by the attack" in Bucha, Vyshhorod, and Obukhiv districts.
In Kyiv itself, Russian forces struck with ballistic missiles the same night. A fire broke out in the Sviatoshyn district, affecting a sector of private homes. In Obolon district, a shop caught fire, while a warehouse blaze was reported in Holosiiv district, according to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko. He said two people were injured in the attacks, including a woman who was hospitalized.
Several days of strikes on Kyiv and region
Kyiv and the surrounding region have faced a series of Russian attacks for several consecutive days and nights. On September 27, a drone struck the Stolychniy market in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka near Kyiv. According to Ukrainian authorities, two people were killed and ten injured. Several districts of Kyiv were also hit by drones that day, with dozens wounded.
Overnight on September 28, Russian forces again attacked the Ukrainian capital with drones, wounding several people. Later that day, a strike hit the main building of Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences, sparking a major fire. Klitschko said two people were killed and 26 injured in the September 28 attacks on Kyiv.
On the night of September 29, Kyiv was hit by a combined missile and drone strike. Missile debris landed near a residential building and a drone struck the roadway. No casualties were reported.
