Lithuania Moves to Ban Russian, Belarusian Artists Who Performed in Occupied Ukraine
Lithuania’s government approved a proposal on Wednesday, Sept. 30 to bar Russian and Belarusian artists who worked in occupied Ukrainian territories or supported Russia’s war from performing in the country. To work in Lithuania, they would have to sign a public declaration condemning Russia’s aggression – a step that could expose them to prosecution at home. The amendment, if approved by the parliament, would take effect on Jan. 1, 2027.
