Kinda sucks that AI vibe coding has JUSTIFIED the indie dev fear of your game idea being stolen by someone else. AI shovelware will absolutely NOT be as good as the original vision and execution (simply because one is driven by passion and the other is careless greed), but it’s still a violation.

I think about this at least a dozen times a day.

people end up unable to see depiction as anything other than endorsement when their entire cultural diet is escapist fun and reassurance. they see something make them uncomfortable and can only assume people are watching horrible shit as vicarious pleasure and are horrified.

I teach UI/UX in college. I’ve had students quit showing up mid-semester, fail all their courses, & lose their tuition money… all because a chatbot convinced them that their business idea was worth doing so for. To stop learning & just listen to its uncritical validation🫩 You made the right call.

Still have not seen Legend of Aang (busy) but every time I see clips of Toph she makes me want to get absolutely shredded for no reason at all. Crazy how this same character can still inspire me to beat up my older brothers (they started it) like when I was a little girl. She made me feel strong.

Some areas in Paper Mario feature a rim lighting effect that is achieved in a manner that is extremely simple for the surprisingly effective results it produces, being simply shifting around a shadow copy of the sprite.

The rim lighting effect in Paper Mario is created in an extremely simple manner.
[the sprites are taken, copied, recolored black, then the black version is offset, made transparent, and trimmed to the original sprite]
Note how this coincidentally results in a realistic shadow of the cap on Mario's face because the shadow is just the brim recolored black
