Last night's @field-fx.party jam shader, playing in the space of 'swizzle combined with physarum'. original plan was to have swizzle melt away but instead we've ended up on psychedelic space explosions x3 swizzle features in shaderland.net music: esper99.bandcamp.com/album/king-q...

lol i was there this year. it takes place in the woods across the road from the Assembly demoparty/gaming event. afaiu the logic is 'Assembly doesn't allow alcohol' -> 'let's have another demoparty outside' -> Boozembly exists -> 'we need a compo for it to be a demoparty' -> amiga hardcore compo

also rasterisation is performed entirely in the fragment shader. we calculate UVs for each ring and then draw a swizzle inside each UV patch. luckily swizzle does not have a ton of tris. doing this does have the advantage that we can easily distort Swizzle with noise, put her in rings, etc.

who knows whether masamune shirow ever figured out you could get this kind of sensory boost with a little estrogen... but the spirit is there also. motoko's leatherdyke fit??
Still from 'The Ghost in the Shell'. A surgeon explains to Motoko Kusanagi how cyborg bodies transmit sensations. She's wearing an incredibly cool leather outfit with big shoulders.

saru!GitS just adapted our favourite chapter in the manga - the point when Shirow really just all out gushes about the sensory potential of cyborg bodies. this line though. you could say, word for word, the same thing about GRS techniques

left is no diffuse, right is just reading and writing the same texel after drawing the particles which *should* be a noop. if each shader invocation only dealt with one texel it would be fine. but the particle can be drawn anywhere, so it can get overwritten by the blur from another invocation.
just particles drawing dots, producing a nice homogeneous patternreading and writing the same texel creates a pattern of triangles and square tiles

other D&G insights include: Nietzsche was plural actually
excerpt: ...nature of the violent oscillations that overwhelm an individual so long as he seeks only his own center and is incapable of seeing the circle of which he himself is a part; for if these oscillations overwhelm him, it is because each one of them corresponds to an individual other than the one he believes himself to be, from the point of view of the unlocatable center. As a result, an identity is essentially fortuitous, and a series of individualities must be undergone by each of these oscillations, so that as a consequence the fortuitousness of this or that particular individuality will render all of them necessary."20 The forces of attraction and repulsion, of soaring ascents and plunging falls, produce a series of intensive states based on the intensity = 0 that designates the body without organs ("but what is most unusual is that here again a new afflux is necessary, merely to signify this absence"21). There is no Nietzsche-the-self, professor of philology, who suddenly loses his mind and supposedly identifies with all sorts of strange people; rather, there is the Nietzschean subject who passes through a series of states, and who identifies these states with the names of history: "every name in history is I. . . ."22 The subject spreads itself out along the entire circumference of the circle, the center of which has been a

'style copyright' is thankfully recognised as a trap, except... instead they want to propose a new copyright-like thing for protecting a 'persona', such as voice. exactly what that would entail is hard to imagine. it is dystopian to imagine you might sell your 'persona rights' to a corpo!
Copyright protects specific expressions, not general ideas, themes or style.178 As Dr Guadamuz noted, this approach is “foundational to copyright systems worldwide”. He explained: “Protecting style under copyright would come dangerously close to granting monopolies over artistic techniques and conventions, which would chill the very creativity that copyright is designed to promote.”179 AI systems can therefore generate convincing stylistic imitations without necessarily engaging copyright in any individual underlying work, leaving a structural gap for creators whose economic position depends on the distinctiveness of their style.82.Dr Trapova said that new protections from the harms posed by deepfakes should not be framed as providing “a licensing opportunity or another stream of revenue” for individuals. In her view, “this area deserves legislation of its own”, rather than being tackled through an expansion of copyright.197 In its report, the ISM proposed that:

“New statutory personality rights, or reforms to existing performer and image rights, could sit alongside the copyright and performance rights framework and be supported by related areas of law, including data protection and privacy law, consumer protection and misrepresentation law, contract law or competition law.”198

83.The absence in UK law of a robust personality right or specific protection for digital likeness means that creators and performers lack an adequate basis to challenge harmful outputs that imitate their distinctive style, voice or persona without reproducing a specific underlying work.

84.The Government should introduce protections against unauthorised digital replicas and ‘in the style of’ uses. Any new framework should give creators and performers clear, enforceable control over the commercial exploitation of their identity, while appropriately safeguarding freedom of expression and other legitimate uses.

notable they describe the 'soft power' created by the UK creative industry in such specific terms. it does not sit well to have my works be recognised as an element of UK soft power to be exploited; I want it to belong to the international mycorrhizal tranny society, not its current host nations
quote from the report: he UK creative industries are an economic powerhouse with huge growth potential, and a vital part of the UK’s soft power. Their success has been underpinned by what witnesses described as an internationally-respected “gold-standard” copyright framework.

can't decide if this article was written by LLM or just full of really corny similes, either way not inspiring a ton of confidence (& to compare two translations into chinese, surely it should show us the chinese text, not just a 'what it would have sounded like in english' representation?)
Quote: One can imagine the reaction. Players did not feel immersed in Pharloom; they felt trapped in a high-school drama club’s Elizabethan improv night. Instead of fighting for survival, they were decoding riddles with the cadence of a failed King James Bible. It is impossible to perform platforming precision when the screen itself sounds like a plague sermon.Quote: Was it the surgeon, delivering language as clinical as a scalpel cut? Or the scholar, enamored with baroque phrasing, flooding the text with archaic cadences? Or, in a twist worthy of Silksong’s own lore, was it both — a dual identity, two Wus fused together, creating a translation equal parts sterile and flowery, stitched into a monstrous hybrid?Quote: Localization is best when invisible — players notice the world, not the words. Here, the translators demanded the spotlight, breaking confidentiality and smothering Silksong’s brilliance under theatrical ornament. Team Cherry once said Hornet was “too tall” for DLC. In China, the tragedy was that the text itself became too tall to climb — a tower of gilded verbiage that collapsed under its own weight. Silksong promised silk. Instead, players got burlap stitched with expired Shakespeare. Not a design flaw, not a delay — just translators who fancied themselves poets.
