Today is Oral Mucositis (OM) Awareness Day. OM is an often unseen but painful side effect of cancer treatment where large patches of sores appear all over the mouth & sometimes throat. Omg this. My oncologist has his whole office decorated like a tiki bar. The doorways to the back and the lab have beaded curtains. The colors are wild. There are flying turtles, porpoises, and mermaids on the walls. It’s nuts & amazing and it makes me giggle every time I go to my appt.

I'm tired. My cancer is “easy,” according to some people, whatever that means. It’s still fucking cancer. I still face the uncertainties and fears that come with a “typical” cancer diagnosis, even if my treatment isn't what most people think of when they hear “cancer treatment.”
