People are on here talking wild reckless to trans people. And it is very annoying because trans people have done everything they needed to do. They educated the public about candidates who were against civil rights. They pointed people towards viable alternatives. They came through in primaries.

Any "compromise" on trans rights is both deeply wrong in itself and lays groundwork for worse. Sports bans? Segregate us from part of public life, establish legal grounds for further discrimination. Healthcare bans for trans kids? More trans kids die and trans healthcare as a whole is endangered.

So it's useful to talk about the specific ways in which this argument is dishonest because I think a lot of liberal and left-leaning people are very vulnerable to this rhetorical bludgeon—the idea that you should "listen to experts". But let's unpack what exactly Giggies here means by "experts".

SE Gyges : this was early enough that it was very insightful and is now sort of transparently true if you think the gizmo isn't useful you're ignoring most major software project and all computer security professionals, you basically have to spit on expertise as a concept

Got a first-pass moving on from the block out animation. Went through a whole process of feeling good about it, doing a little more work and feeling really bad, and then realizing all the spikes in the animation graph were probably why it was looking so janky. When it feels like things just aren't going right, sometimes you just gotta start making mechs. Maybe just me, idk. The idea is a quick melee type, with accessories including what'll essentially be big brass knuckles. And maybe a scarf. I like it when the person who punches stuff has a flowy scarf

I have seen some takes that “it’s a big project, there’s nothing they can reasonably do to ban it” and honestly that’s just false. You can just ban it. I’d made two batches of pecan scone dough to use up some excess sourdough discard leftover from another recipe. One still sits in the freezer, awaiting its destined time. The second is shown here, which I feel came out nicely! If perhaps *slightly* over-baked, to compensate for freezing the dough

Big standouts to me: 1. inability to re-use solutions, just re-implement slightly-different functions each time a problem arises 2. code complexity only ever increases 3. lots of begging the LLM to behave, which of course it cannot because it is a statistical machine incapable of cognition.

A bit late for #screenshotsaturday, but I've been working on a low-poly rat since my sister told me about a game jam themed around such rats about a week ago. I call them the Rad Rat. I didn't have much in mind for mechanics at the start so I'm sorta just tinkering (footage below)
