I love offline software. What's your plan for monetization? Premium app? Or something else?

This looks so cool! I hope it does well.

Terrain3D is pretty cool. I'm using it for my game. I find the mesh painting tools could be nicer, but I haven't found anything better yet.

This kind of reminds me of Arco. That game is adorable.

30fps on my laptop is better than not running at all. I will need to do some optimization though I think! #godot #indiedev #linux

You are doing it right haha 👍 I had too much stuff in there so I made an autoload that auto loads all the stuff I needed in autoloads. It holds onto everything so I can get it whenever really easy.

Yeah I put editor path in workspace settings for that reason. I've thought of actually committing the Godot binary to source code so when people pull or go back in time they're always on the right version. There's a bunch of paths I find I have to move around whenever I upgrade godot versions.

I have the Godot Tab Formatter plugin by justburntpixels which automatically fixes my tabs/spaces so I never get warnings about it.

Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
The godot-formatter plugin by DoHe gives you full code cleanup, letting you press alt-shift-F to sort parameters the godot way, and a bunch of other linting. This could use it's own thread honestly.

When working on plugins or editor tools, you can debug those by running the entire engine from vscode (rather than just the project). This is crazy powerful.
010
Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
You can run different scenes with additional launch scripts.
010
Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
To debug the game, run it directly from vscode with a launch script.

With the LSP setup, you can find references, rename across files by symbol, and edit code using all your familiar shortcuts! I can't live without this.
010
Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
The LSP crashes a lot, so enable auto retry, and turn up the number of retries.

In vscode in your workspace settings set "godotTools.editorPath.godot4": to the path to your godot exe
010
Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Using Headless LSP in vscode means your main editor doesn't need to crash when things break.

Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Install the godot-tools plugin by Geequlim in vscode

Cameron64 @cameron64.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
In Godot, under Editor Settings -> Text Editor -> External, set Exec Path: Your Path To/Microsoft VS Code/Code.exe Exec Flags: {project} --goto {file}:{line}:{col} Use External Editor: true

It is not obvious how to get Godot and VSCode working nicely together. I made this thread to give you all the tips and configs I use so you don't have to learn it all the slow way. I'm on Godot 4.7.2 as I'm writing this. Please add your own tips so we can keep learning 🙏 #godot #vscode

This is a great breakdown on how to recreate genshin's character shaders. adrianmendez.artstation.com/projects/wJZ... The face shadow just picks between two hand authored shadows depending on light direction. And I especially appreciate the outer shadow. Brilliant stuff. #gamedev #3dart #anime

I write in obsidian, then export with latex so it looks like a lil book. Then I print it and edit it on paper with a colored pen, then I go make the edits in obsidian and go again.

I'm really picky about the pixel art in my game, so I had to make sure the outlines were pixel perfect. And I am happy with this result. Best solution I find was rendering to a second subviewport and then sampling transparency on the viewport texture 🤷‍♀️ it works! #indiedev #pixelart #godot

Oh snap I thought you had to put quotes around the dictionary keys when doing string formats. This looks much cleaner.
