Somebody has probably said this already but it sure is interesting that co-op games get derisively labelled "friendslop" but nobody is labelling the equally widespread balatro-likes "pokerslop" (To be clear I like both genres and think friendslop is a terrible term)

[Swordtember 2026] With today's prompt of "Gamble" got to put some extra effort in given my real job.
Pixel art of a thick bladed sword with a hilt made from a slot machine.

The sword has 3 separate segments, only two (labelled with 7) appear solid. A third with a cherry appears incorporeal. The slot machine at the base has rolled a bad spin of a 7, a cherry, and a 7.

A handcuff and spikes stick out from the handle of the sword.

[SwordTember 2026] Back on track with today's prompt of "Circus". (And remembering just how much I have to scale up pixel art for Bluesky not to destroy it with blur)
Pixel art of an ornate curved sword. Ribbons with small gold pieces on the end hang from the swords guard and hilt.

Three large gold rings have been caught and held on the sword, ready to be thrown back into the air as part of a performance.

[Swordtember] Catching up on days 2-5 of Swordtember, you can definitely see me getting back into things across these. I think "comedy" was the hardest prompt to come up with something for, but springs count as being funny right?
Pixel art of four swords, from left to right:

A large wide blade with a jack-o'-lantern pumpkin as a guard, a candle within lights the eyes of the pumpkin.

A slender blade of wax with a lit wick on the end, wax dripping down its length. It has an elegant twisted guard which holds two smaller candles.

A blocky and brightly coloured sword with a spring dividing it's blade in half.

A broken blade stained with blood. The sword looks simple, like one given to a young adventurer before they depart on a quest.

[Swordtember] Catching up with Swordtember with yesterday's prompt of "Brush"
Pixel art of a large comb shaped sword leaning on a table and stool, a candle lights the scene and a green cloak is hung from a simple hook to the left.

The sword has 7 comb teeth and a sharp edge on the opposite side to the teeth.

[Pixel art: trains] Posting something I swear I posted ages ago but apparently not. Expect more train pixel art in future as I keep sporadically adding trains to TrainTasks (Also resisting the urge to go back and redo the whole thing)
Pixel art of the train Mallard steaming along some tracks. The train is a dark blue, streamlined with 5 large wheels and pulls a trail of coaches which can be seen disappearing into the distance. To the left of the train is a small ditch and a field. Above is a blue sky with streaks of clouds following the train's path.

Interesting problem while updating Monsters of the Greenwood to Godot 4.5 (new accessibility and tilemap systems) Screen reader voices often interpret Bow as in to an audience, not as in the thing which shoots an arrow. (Otherwise the update has been smooth) #godot #accessibility #gamedev

I've been playing a lot of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, and my gosh this game feels luxurious. Like a custom sprite for each possible class holding a lantern at night, just in case the player character is dead. Larger sprites just for the start of battles. Extravagance, there's no other way to put it

[Compost: Flowering deck builder] The core of compost is simultaneous flower blooming turns, players playing all their cards into a veritable bouquet of flowers. Why simultaneous though? (1/3)
