For Worldbuilding Wednesday I present to you. The Sidthians, or the Faeians. Based on Fae cultures of the Celtic and Irish mythologies, my version is based on the two loosely being connected. Sidthians are a mix of humans, fae, and beastfolk. They are a nation gripped by the ravages of the past./1

A long pennisula straddling an ocean on both sides. Dark strokes indicate black voids where a plague has hit. Including the infamous Black Veil. In the south is the overlord's bay a sea that is also called mockingly the Clawed Coasts. Which are sharp razor talon rocks taht destroy ships. To the north is the ice covered lands. Where nothing grows.

Main picture of the Land of Oreia, the Cradle World. A Large geographic world. With large oceans and many other details. (it would take too long all I can say is that the world map is 1.5 times the size of earth.)

There are 7 main continents, One called Talkoria is the largest and most well known and explored. There is Tora, which is the most under explored, there is the ice covered Northern Reaches, which is an arctic circle, and the southern wastes which is essentially antartica, to the north of which is the Forgotten Lands, and to the north of Talkoria is the Broken Lands, a continent seperated from the main continent after the devastation from the Ruination.

To the Right of Talkoria is Delfikini, an island continent that is eternally at war with itself.

Marked are locations of interest such as Meroth and Oren two of the largest nations in all of Talkoria.

Dog is back from injections for heartworms, he is crying a lot and definately in pain. Ugh. This is usually a very kind dog, but the fact he wants to be alone despite my efforts makes a ton of sense, he's never had a home. If anyone has any ideas to make his days a lot easier let me know.

It would probably be Stormlight Archive. I really want to make a fantasy world and setting people can actively love and engage in. One that people can find characters they can relate to, wanna be like, or learn from. If only I wasn't such a slow writer.

Today was an awful day at IGN. We were blindsided by the layoff of four union members and many more people across the organization who contributed years of their careers to making IGN an unparalleled voice in games and entertainment.

With each successive layoff, core parts of IGN’s operation continue to be stripped away. Today, IGN has decided to do away with many of our talented producers, editors, hosts, and other crucial roles, both within and out of the union. How many layoffs will occur before we no longer recognize the company we work for and the content that we make?

While we recognize the challenges the media industry is facing as a whole, it is difficult to understand how laying off valuable employees better positions us to meet those challenges. In turn, remaining employees bear additional workloads worsened by anxiety over the ever-looming threat of another layoff.

We are devastated, angry, and heartbroken for our colleagues.

Seeing that diablo 5 announcement um.. I got a bit ranty...

So more of the same we got in d4. Just with Diablo. Yeah thats a skip. I am sorry if this comes off as very negative, and I usually try to be really positive when it comes to games. But... None of this is what i want.
Absolutely nothing I liked about d4 was how was straight up black humor with how dark and grim it got. I am tired of embracing the darkness. They've done that Three times in three expansions. The problem with diablo's story wasn't that there was darkness. It was there was so much darkness it bordered black comedy types of themes. Almost every character you meet dies in the most hilariously ironic way possible. It stopped being interesting or compelling to trust characters as you know they will just die in the next quest.

So all the angels are crucified, tyrael dead, blah blah. Idk man this just doesn't read very interesting. We are quite literally living in a world that was dominated by DEMONS, beasts, and all that the whole time. Hows this any different? the light was absent in all of Diablo 4. No angels, no higher ups. How the fuck is this any different? There hasn't been a time we've ever played sanctuary where kingdoms or people were able to defend themselves. Where demons weren't around. Almost everytime we've played the story its apocalypse now and the light is losing till a hero comes back. This isn't really changing the stage or the world building. To me at least. Its more of the same and a huge disappointment to hear.

My problem with diablo 4 is that I rather just be a faceless hero especially in apocalypse world. Because we aren't connected and the more you characterize the more work you have to put in.
I rather be part of a group of heroes that take down the demons of hell. I am tired of facing the same evil mustache twirling villain. Its just not compelling if its the same darkness and depression complex we've seen a hundred times.

This over centerification on the player character was my least favorite part of d4, d3 and now d5. The problem with the story was that our character's personal connection wasn't interesting. It wasn't dynamic, you just played a story and things happened in the game. If this is another live service game, I tried it with d4 thought I would enjoy it... I didn't. This type of story is just not interesting. I don't want a personal connection to Diablo.

I just want to be a character that I choose to be. If you want to have a character actually be a character sure, but that takes a lot of work, and you actually have to CHARACTERIZE The character. And actually give them fluidity and ability to tell their own story. Think Kratos, Or Geralt or Samus Aran or anyone like that. You want to back up and create a character, do it, and don't half ass it like all major expansions and major games have done. Rip the control out of the players hands, give them story, give them background. Give us a personal connection to these characters.

One of the best parts of playing RPGs, is exploring settings, inhabited cities, lore, and all that. Diablo had this in the beginning but d3, d4... and now d5 seems to think just nuking it and all of its lore is the best alternative???? Like I am sorry it ain't. Nothing about this screams "We went through player feedback, we learned our lessons."

D4 had tons of story issues, and was exacerbated by a poorly thought out cast of rotating soon to be dead supporting characters. No one had staying power, and no one was relevant.

If you want to make the wanderer and actual character you really don't have a diablo game anymore. If they want to go that direction sure. But they haven't proven they could do that.

Pro tip: you don’t have to comm artists to boost and support them. People claim they can’t support artists and creators because they are financially strapped, but they can still boost posts, comment, like, and in general just be supportive! It’s completely free outside of an internet connection ;)
