Remember: Wealth cannot be separated from power. We're seeing in real time how the extreme concentration of wealth is distorting our politics, rigging markets, and granting unprecedented power to a handful of people. Taxing the rich isn't just an economic issue, it's a defense of our democracy.

More than 500 U.S. citizens have been detained by ICE, according to ProPublica. 70% of ICE detainees have no criminal conviction. Trump’s promise to go after the “worst of the worst” was always a lie. It was always a pretext to terrorize Black and brown communities. Remember this.

Honestly, I feel like we need an entire line of Mario Sports this gen, like the N64 had. We've got the AAA 3rd party versions, let's get the more casual sports games to train people on too. Also, I AM very interested in the return of the Backyard ___ series which I think would fill a similar niche.

*shrug* We've genderbent Hamlet, so the objective act of it is artistic license. But if anyone thinks this has any material effect on other complaints about the property then they're dead wrong. The recent Dune movie made Liet Kynes into a woman, one of the least drastic things it did to the book.

Switch 2 offers Nintendo a great opportunity to dig deeper into its back catalog to find stuff that hasn’t been offered in a while, or to come up with new spin-offs that can co-exist with previous Switch 1 games. That’s why Splatoon Raiders was so smart. And Mario Baseball is a good call.

Mario Tennis Fever is an interesting case in that it’s basically the only first-party Switch 2 game that’s a traditional follow-up to a Switch 1 game. With so many S1 games still selling years after launch, Nintendo has to think hard about cannibalizing sales, and how to avoid it.

Lots of gratitude to @carlbergstrom.com for quoting probably my favorite of my own sentences about AI at @arl.org
Carl Bergstrom stands onstage at an Association of Research Libraries meeting, beside large projection screens displaying a quotation from Ted Underwood: “As in any fairytale, accepting magical assistance comes with risks.” Underwood’s name and University of Illinois affiliation appear beneath the quotation. The ballroom is dark, with blue accent lighting on the ceiling and stage curtains; a lectern and conference signage stand near Bergstrom, and the main slide fills most of the left side of the image. The quotation comes from Underwood’s essay “Will AI make us overconfident?” at tedunderwood.com.

People are STILL working this way! It’s not just that a better world is possible — it already EXISTS. We can nurture it.

Saying AI will destroy all humans is much more accurate than the other side of the argument. Irresponsible AI, and AI in the hands of irresponsible or malicious humans, will bring about death and suffering. This is the nuance in the Dune SciFi lore: AI didn't enslave humanity, people with AI did.

Thanks! For what it's worth, I do think that helps me understand things a bit better 🙂 I think MH games can feel MMO-style loot dependent, so I understand the impression that fights can seem like a 45 minute campaign to deliver impart enough damage to a very cool/dangerous dino/dragon sponge.

Aside from parry timing, that sounds like Monster Hunter... maybe it's a matter of degrees, where Dark Souls is a magnitude higher difficulty in what it asks of you whereas MH is less demanding? So MH is superficially built on similar ideas, but definitely nowhere near as far as Dark Souls takes it?
