The supposed cold utility of being the party of higher standards was torched for the foreseeable future when Trump won again. Well before Platner.

I'll take the conflation of criticism of Israel with antisemitism seriously when the ADL replaces the guy who was cool with Musk's sieg heil as their leader. No sooner.

We need to recognize what happened to Scott Wiener at the San Francisco Trans Pride March as antisemitism, and finally purge this poison from left wing movements. A new opinion piece by Evan Urquhart, @evanurquhart.bsky.social, only on Assigned Media. assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...

the use of “performative” as an insult here is why these people are losing their primaries. yes, voters want you to perform their anger and disgust! they want representatives to represent their symbolic interests! the idea that good representation is necessarily quiet and unobtrusive is wrong!

"Blaming all Jews for Gaza" isnt something serious ppl do. Israel wants to be held to a different, unquestioning standard. That's the whole problem! They're reflecting our own rogue govt back at as us. The rest of the world should tell Trump to fuck off, & we should want to tell Israel the same.

1. Congressman Mike Collins, the GOP nominee for US Senate in Georgia, has spent over $400,000 of taxpayer money designated for office expenses on TV ads that are virtually indistinguishable from his campaign ads.

Why are the Trump administration's 250th celebrations so feeble? Because it's hard to celebrate the ideals of the Declaration of Independence if you don't believe in them www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

It's hardly as simple as you describe given the intense propaganda network demanding that criticism of the current Israeli govt be labeled antisemitism. The bad faith of people like Greenblatt are spreading antisemitism more than your pop-up DSA challenger.

This isn't a Dem primary thing though. Israel is a global pariah. As disgusting & menacing as Trump has been towards Europe, Bibi's even more disliked there. Wanting nothing to do with that govt is just basic & obvious, not antisemitic.

The Dem establishment and Dem centrists can wring their hands and complain about the results in Colorado. Or they can learn a lesson: Their repudiation was in large part about their perceived unwillingness to stand up firmly and unhesitatingly to Trump. So start doing so!

Amanda Gonzalez, tonight’s D primary winner for Colorado SOS, was instrumental in making Colorado the first state to require polling places in every jail. That’s been a transformative policy change and an example for other states, where the bar for jail voting access generally couldn’t be lower.

He has to not change parties to maintain maximum leverage. He has repeatedly said he doesn't support that type of use of leverage. He's not immune from pressure at all. GOP charm offensive has worked on his toddler level diminished EQ.

Fetterman will not remain in the party if it requires playing hardball. This is just factual application of his repeated refusal to leverage the budget/shutdowns. He will not be part of maximal resistance.

Fetterman is not going to remain in the party if they're playing hardball. This is just the factual record of his open, repeated position on shutdowns, which is the basic point of leverage. He's not going to be a necessary vote.

About Trump v. Barbara: Do not give the Court and the CJ credit for reading and upholding the Constitution. It's a travesty that this is not a unanimous decision... it's also a travesty that the Court let this question percolate for a year, giving credence to a crank theory of citizenship.

It’s important to understand that the Court is now just an arm of the oligarchy. This decision strips the people of the right to limit the role of money in politics. It gives billionaires special rights to buy our elections. A precondition of oligarchy.

Full statement by NPR Editor in Chief Tommy Evans on retracted Alito story
Due to a misunderstanding, NPR’s Supreme Court and Legal Affairs Correspondent Nina Totenberg incorrectly reported that Justice Samuel Alito had retired. Neither Justice Alito nor the Supreme Court Public Information Office has announced his retirement. As soon as the error was realized, the story was retracted and removed from NPR’s website and an on-air correction was broadcast. We regret the error and any confusion this may have caused. This afternoon, Mrs. Totenberg will appear on All Things Considered to explain what happened. She has reached out to Justice Alito to apologize.

I don't think people are connecting the court's radicalism to their willingness to make voting in change impossible. They approve the dictator's pretext, the masses take to the streets, and he kills as many as necessary.

Obvious lies about the reflecting pool, and a pathetic excuse. But still, it strikes me that even with their imagined story, the *defense* is that Trump is so incompetent he couldn't even protect downtown DC, not even for the president's special project with additional deployed security forces.

Klein's description of the Dayton video is also surreal. To support the lie that Haitians were eating dogs in Springfield, Rufo pushed a video of Congolese men "grilling cats" in Dayton. (It was likely chicken.) That was close enough for Rufo. It was always about dehumanizing Black immigrants.
