I took a grad seminar on Simonides with Anne Carson at Cal in the 1990s. The New Yorker wanted to profile her; she agreed, but only if they took her to dinner at the fabulously expensive Chez Panisse with her seminar students. Eventually the reporter declined, which is what she wanted all along.

On the whole it’s definitely going to save people money and I’d guess a significant majority of riders either have an autoload set up or have switched to tapping with their bank cards/apple pay, but yeah, I don’t see why they couldn’t continue to offer a pass for those that still wanted it.

I’m sure this third Thomas Crown Affair is going to be a slick, polished, perfectly enjoyable film, but the thing that the 1999 remake got so right is making the film deeply deeply deeply horny, and we just don’t do that anymore. If I search “Toronto reference library” on google maps the top result is North York Central Library, except it doesn’t SAY “North York Central Library” it says “Toronto reference library” and only once you select does it give the correct name. The actual reference library is the second result! WHY
