The Zelda timeline isn't automatically the most interesting part of my favourite video game series and its cohesiveness can be a mixed bag. Nonetheless I always side eye those arrogant "it's not real, it's retellings" takes.

What hyperrealistic AAA games have characters that actually look like Ocarina of Time '26 anyway? It feels closest in vibe to Twilight Princess or Hyrule Warriors, especially for the major characters and bosses.

Yes the new Nintendo releases are primarily geared for children and not aging millennials. I have no reason to assume that wouldn't be the case for the Ocarina of Time and Star Fox remakes.

Yes there is a Zelda timeline. Yes it has existed for as long as there have been direct sequels and prequels, long before 2011. And yes, the 2011 reveal of the hero falls is a patchwork awkward retcon but also one likely built out of necessity bcause of contradictions between LttP and OoT.

Many Zelda games from Wind Waker mention past heroes. Waker itself refers to the hero of time by name. They're standalone enough, but there's many that are individually prequels or sequels and even (admittedly contradictory) origins of hero's clothes. Which WW and Twilight Princess Link are handed.
