Kinda wild that the pope has a better “art vs AI” policy than, say, Canada’s largest art and design university…

At the end of the day, the Canadian government's Campus Antisemitism and Student Experiences (CASE) study is propaganda politics laundered as legitimate social science by Canadian scholars. We break down all the methodological flaws in this work of professional malpractice 👇.
To make definitively broad generalizations grounded in a small, biased selection sample is an unacceptable error, yet this is something the authors of this report repeatedly do, such as when they assert, “95.7% said they had experienced or witnessed at least one instance of antisemitism over the previous 12 months” without providing a caveat such as “of those surveyed” or a strong note on the limitations of the report’s methodology. This finding of 95 percent has, predictably, been repeated ad nauseam in the media. In fact, the authors of the report have admitted that among the very small number of respondents who indicated Zionism was not important at all to them, 92 percent said their campus was safe and inclusive for Jewish students, a finding that directly contradicts the thesis that it is Jewishness, rather than the state policy of Israel, that is the object of critique on campuses.

The 95 and 92 percent figures, taken together, index a larger problem: the incentive for participants to articulate experiences that align with broader political projects in a moment of profound polarization. It is clear beyond doubt that students with Zionist proclivities reported discrimination and those with anti-Zionist leanings reported none. So, what the study seems to reveal above all is the political orientation of its participants. It is not really possible to falsify any of the findings beyond that. If Zionist students consider critique of Israel to be a form of harm, that is what they will report. But this is not an objective measure, as evinced by the testimony of anti-Zionist students.

Anybody who’s still advocating putting these tools anywhere near a school is not doing so despite the cognitive collapse they cause, but because of it. dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn...
Abstract
Using 30 months of panel data on 26,811 Chinese students in grades 7-12, we study how generative Al affects homework productivity and learning. The data combine monthly closed-book exams, high-school and college entrance exams, and homework scores and completion time across nine subjects. We exploit staggered Al adoption in a difference-in-differences design. Al adoption raises homework scores by 18% and reduces completion time by 30%, but lowers monthly exam scores by 20% within six months.
High-stakes entrance-exam scores fall by 18 and 24%, with the full penalty emerging only after about two years. The losses are largest in social science subjects, followed by STEM and languages, and are especially large for junior students, high-achieving students, and boys. The learning losses are concentrated among roughly 80% of Al users whose behavior is consistent with homework outsourcing, as indicated by exceptionally short homework completion time coupled with high homework scores. Al users who maintain similar homework completion time as non-Al users experience small learning losses.
